I've run into a pretty strange bug. I've created a tileset with the ZQ Editor that comes with ZC 2.5 RC1. Obviously, I saved it in this editor. Now, when I try to run it with the ZC Player that comes with ZC 2.5 RC1 I get this message:
That makes no sense. It can't be a "New quest version", both, the player and the editor are ZC 2.5 RC1. You'd think they'd be compatible.
If it matters, the only "advanced" set up I have is big (16x32) Link sprites. Here's a download link to the questfile:
ZeldaDensetsu3.qst - 0.85MB
I'm at a loss here. Can anybody help me?
Edit: I'm working with the Windows build.
It'll run if you set both the Quest Ver. and Min Ver. fields to 0 under Quest->Header.
As far as I know, those fields aren't used for anything besides maintaining your own version history, but it seems to cause problems if the quest version is less than the min version.

They will. I guarantee it.
You gotta go into this stuff accepting that. I downloaded the Beta with the full intention of having to re-do some of my Scripts a couple times as things slowly get up-to-date.
It's not hard. When I playtest my own game, and something that worked before no longer works, I don't ever panic. I simply go into my code and fix whatever's wrong-- and if I can't find what's wrong (which is normally the case, believe it or not), that's when I use my best friend "Trace()" in numerous spots until I shed some light on the plaguing little imps.
Funniest part is that I found a number of bugs for Saffith to fix in ZQ by doing this to my own scripts. It was an accident.
So I can guarantee there are at least two or three parts I have to change where I used NPC->Defense[], now that he re-wrote that command a bit, and I haven't even taken a look at my ZScript Buffer in the last month and a half and I can tell you that from memory.
It's been ages since I've posted, you know, Lynker.

Isn't the Quest ver. and Min ver. basically to make it so that, if you make a quest and set the Quest ver. to 1.0, making a 1.2 update and setting the Quest ver. & Min ver. to 1.2 stops it from using old 1.0 save files to stop it from breaking anything? Which could actually be used for demos, now I think about it.

But maybe i'll look into the simple scripting guide.
Thanks for believing in me

Fixed. It'll only set the items' graphic data now (including Link tile mods).
All right, it's fixed for loading saved games now. I'm not seeing any new problems with the non-percentage cases, though, and I don't see how there could be... Could you give me details, or post a demo quest?

1. _L_ said this is just the case with the door repair in 2.10, but it was also the case with the secret money room in 2.10. However, in 2.5, the secret money can only be obtained once times outside of caves, whereas in 2.10, it could be obtained multiple times outside of caves, so I was wondering if you could make it to where the door repair fee is only charged once outside of caves, because charging the fee multiple times could seriously bankrupt Link (
2. This one right here that has to do with the whistle->Palette Change Flag has been around since Beta 18 (and possibly even earlier) and has still not yet been resolved.

Is the mac download link updated, because I'm still having bugs...I think the non-percentage bug may have just been me derping and setting starting HP wrong, but the bug with HP when loading saved games is still present.

Something else I've noticed is that I still can't load .zgp files in RC1. Will this ever be fixed?
Eh, depends on what version the .zgp was created in it looks like. They haven't been updated in years so I'm assuming they've become deprecated, though maybe someone would rather fix them than remove them.
Just stick to using the .qst format for now.
