Edit: Problem fixed. I've edited the "bug-post" out, to prevent any confusion.

I've run into a pretty strange bug. I've created a tileset with the ZQ Editor that comes with ZC 2.5 RC1. Obviously, I saved it in this editor. Now, when I try to run it with the ZC Player that comes with ZC 2.5 RC1 I get this message:

That makes no sense. It can't be a "New quest version", both, the player and the editor are ZC 2.5 RC1. You'd think they'd be compatible.
If it matters, the only "advanced" set up I have is big (16x32) Link sprites. Here's a download link to the questfile:
ZeldaDensetsu3.qst - 0.85MB
I'm at a loss here. Can anybody help me?

Edit: I'm working with the Windows build.

It'll run if you set both the Quest Ver. and Min Ver. fields to 0 under Quest->Header.

As far as I know, those fields aren't used for anything besides maintaining your own version history, but it seems to cause problems if the quest version is less than the min version.

They will. I guarantee it.

You gotta go into this stuff accepting that. I downloaded the Beta with the full intention of having to re-do some of my Scripts a couple times as things slowly get up-to-date.

It's not hard. When I playtest my own game, and something that worked before no longer works, I don't ever panic. I simply go into my code and fix whatever's wrong-- and if I can't find what's wrong (which is normally the case, believe it or not), that's when I use my best friend "Trace()" in numerous spots until I shed some light on the plaguing little imps.

Funniest part is that I found a number of bugs for Saffith to fix in ZQ by doing this to my own scripts. It was an accident. icon_biggrin.gif The part about ZQ having read "NPC->Defense[]" incorrectly? You're welcome, everyone.

So I can guarantee there are at least two or three parts I have to change where I used NPC->Defense[], now that he re-wrote that command a bit, and I haven't even taken a look at my ZScript Buffer in the last month and a half and I can tell you that from memory. icon_unsettled.gif It's how it goes.

It's been ages since I've posted, you know, Lynker. icon_wink.gif You should try your hand at scripting! I mean if you admire my works so much, tell yourself you can do it too, and one day you're gonna design something even I can't make. You just have to keep at it. icon_love.gif

Isn't the Quest ver. and Min ver. basically to make it so that, if you make a quest and set the Quest ver. to 1.0, making a 1.2 update and setting the Quest ver. & Min ver. to 1.2 stops it from using old 1.0 save files to stop it from breaking anything? Which could actually be used for demos, now I think about it.

Awe Schwa! You always know what to say. i haven't tried making my own scripts, because it looked too confusing and difficult :-\
But maybe i'll look into the simple scripting guide.
Thanks for believing in me icon_naughty.gif icon_smile.gif

I'd like to bring attention to a certain 'bug' regarding ZGP files. If you import one, it'll reset your items to default which can cause major problems for those who are just upgrading or swapping sets. I wasn't sure if this was a bug or if the item data was carried in the ZGP file. (Which would be odd, which is why I brought it up.)

Fixed. It'll only set the items' graphic data now (including Link tile mods).

Edit2: So it seems that when you load a save game, the bug still happens, but it's fixed for when you use the continue trick. Also, starting HP is bugged when it isn't a percent now...

All right, it's fixed for loading saved games now. I'm not seeing any new problems with the non-percentage cases, though, and I don't see how there could be... Could you give me details, or post a demo quest?

Saffith, I've got two bug reports of mine to tell you about:
1. _L_ said this is just the case with the door repair in 2.10, but it was also the case with the secret money room in 2.10. However, in 2.5, the secret money can only be obtained once times outside of caves, whereas in 2.10, it could be obtained multiple times outside of caves, so I was wondering if you could make it to where the door repair fee is only charged once outside of caves, because charging the fee multiple times could seriously bankrupt Link ( icon_razz.gif ). And what I mean by outside of caves is on screens that are on DMaps that allow special rooms and guys to appear outside of caves.
2. This one right here that has to do with the whistle->Palette Change Flag has been around since Beta 18 (and possibly even earlier) and has still not yet been resolved.

Is the mac download link updated, because I'm still having bugs...I think the non-percentage bug may have just been me derping and setting starting HP wrong, but the bug with HP when loading saved games is still present.

Can I play 2.10 quests on 2.5? I would just download 2.10 but Everytime I go to the downloads section and try to download any of the linux versions it takes me to differnet sites with no down load. Yesterday it was taking me to sj something today it's taking be to bing.com.

Another question any good 2.5 quests out there with newer style tile set? I tryed link to the heavens dx but I think I ran into a game breaking bug. It would of been pretty good if it wasnt for that.

Something else I've noticed is that I still can't load .zgp files in RC1. Will this ever be fixed?

Eh, depends on what version the .zgp was created in it looks like. They haven't been updated in years so I'm assuming they've become deprecated, though maybe someone would rather fix them than remove them.

Just stick to using the .qst format for now.
