Grrrr. *shakes fist* You did NOT just compare OoT to Final Fantasy 7...
FF7 is the game that I got extremely hyped about, bought a Playstation for it, played it, WANTED to love it to pieces, but was very disappointed. And to this day I disagree with the idea that it is a classic. It was all the OTHER games I got on the PS1 that made the system worthwhile.
OoT is the game that I saw being played before hearing the hype, tried it, loved it, and eventually bought a used N64 solely for it. I don't play it for novelty. Novelty doesn't last through 15+ replays across many years.
I don't remember ever even hearing about BattleTanx. Did Nintendo even make it? Because they can't remake a game they don't own, rendering the suggestion moot.
Note: PLEASE do not tell me endless details about BattleTanx trying to get me to try it. I can guarantee you that I wouldn't like a game with a name like "BattleTanx." The closest I've ever gotten to enjoying a war game was Advance Wars.
I'd say playing a game "for novelty" would mean playing it through once or twice and never feeling like you want to play it again.
...Dang, that almost describes my experience with Wind Waker...
I agree with Migokalle.
The people who love OoT don't bother me that much because OoT is an excellent game that I enjoyed quite a bit. Because of that, I can ignore the annoying fans.
FF7 fans annoy me, however, because they usually go bats*** crazy over it, while I don't think it really even deserves noting these days, aside from having decent graphics for the time (decent, not excellent).
Good games AND bad games both have annoying fans. You need to separate that fact from the quality of the game before you rate the game. Hating a game for its fans usually isn't fair to the game.
