Seriously, there's really no point in playing OoT unless it's on an actual 64. You don't play OoT for fun, you play it for novelty (coming from me, however, this must be taken with a grain of salt since I detest OoT (it's the FFVII of Zelda. LoZ needs its own Dissidea)).

Grrrr. *shakes fist* You did NOT just compare OoT to Final Fantasy 7...

FF7 is the game that I got extremely hyped about, bought a Playstation for it, played it, WANTED to love it to pieces, but was very disappointed. And to this day I disagree with the idea that it is a classic. It was all the OTHER games I got on the PS1 that made the system worthwhile.

OoT is the game that I saw being played before hearing the hype, tried it, loved it, and eventually bought a used N64 solely for it. I don't play it for novelty. Novelty doesn't last through 15+ replays across many years.

BattleTanx was good, but definitely not that good. Really, it was only good for its time.

I don't remember ever even hearing about BattleTanx. Did Nintendo even make it? Because they can't remake a game they don't own, rendering the suggestion moot.

Note: PLEASE do not tell me endless details about BattleTanx trying to get me to try it. I can guarantee you that I wouldn't like a game with a name like "BattleTanx." The closest I've ever gotten to enjoying a war game was Advance Wars.

Also, sure it's better on the N64, but I would never actually play a game simply for the novelty of playing it, maybe just own it though. Playing a game you don't enjoy is, simply put, stupid.

I'd say playing a game "for novelty" would mean playing it through once or twice and never feeling like you want to play it again.

...Dang, that almost describes my experience with Wind Waker...

If that is the reason you don't like the game, then I think you need to rethink your train of thought icon_razz.gif That's like saying you don't like eggs, simply because so many other people does too. I love eggs. In fact, I think they're the BEST food on this planet. I'm sure a lot of other people agree with me. I have now made it so that you don't like eggs :3

I agree with Migokalle.

The people who love OoT don't bother me that much because OoT is an excellent game that I enjoyed quite a bit. Because of that, I can ignore the annoying fans.

FF7 fans annoy me, however, because they usually go bats*** crazy over it, while I don't think it really even deserves noting these days, aside from having decent graphics for the time (decent, not excellent).

Good games AND bad games both have annoying fans. You need to separate that fact from the quality of the game before you rate the game. Hating a game for its fans usually isn't fair to the game.

I just went back and looked at my BattleTanx Global Assault 3DO cartridge, it's made, developed and published by Nintendo. So they could remake it without the permission of any other companies.
I don't usually like war games either, I only got it because my cousin gives me all his unwanted video games. But, for the N64, this one's pretty good. The multiplayer versus is the funnest part though. And as requested, I'll end my speech here.

But...but...I loved Wind Waker, beat it 7 times and counting. It was my first console game I'd ever played, and then later my first one ever owned. icon_smile.gif

I'm trying to think of how they could sneak some stuff from Master Quest in. Maybe as a New Game + option, kind of like the Second Quest?

I can't wait for this. Soon after releasing this I bet you that they'll announce a MM3D. Wouldn't that be something? Ahhhhh. Plus, lets not forget the Zelda games that they'll create for the DS after this breakthrough?

I'm excited to see what happens in the next couple of years icon_biggrin.gif

I wonder if the sound and voice effects are going to get a tune up, or just get ported...

I think it could be a good idea to bag both OoT and MM in the same game, but that may just be me icon_razz.gif You know, you could unlock MM after completing OoT.

That sounds like one of those "New Game++" things. It'd be much more entertaining for them to do what Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles did and hide "Game Items" at various locations. Collect a "Game Item" to unlock one of the games that came along with the main game on the cartridge. That'd reap the better reward icon_razz.gif.

Hm... Imagine OoT 3D with the first four games as unlockables (not necessarily with advanced graphics or 3D)? You'd have 5 great games in one. Like maybe there's a hidden tablet with a long string of notes. If you play your Ocarina along to it, it would be the LoZ overworld theme. Then it would unlock LoZ. Or, there's a man challenging you to a game of riddles, costing a large price of 100 rupees to play. If you accept, you're given riddles based on AoL. If you got them all right, you're able to play AoL.

Although I highly doubt we're getting bonus games with this, it would be awesome.

Thanks. For the record, your above post didn't bother me. I just get a lot people who like to say "(GASP!) You haven't played/seen that game/movie?!?" and it gets tiring.

Really, Nintendo made Battletanx? Hunh, a Nintendo game I hadn't heard of. Imagine that. Well, I guess you're entitled to want a remake... but OoT is still probably the most lucrative choice, considering its popularity.

I don't want to dismiss your experience with it. I actually liked it, too. But the heavy emphasis on sailing made it difficult to enjoy a second time. There was plenty of "meat" to the game (the dungeons, mostly), but you had to wade through a lot of novelty in order to get to it. I got tired of sailing. It is much harder to maintain interest on replay than OoT or TP -- at least for me.

All in all, I wish they'd made a cel-shaded, cartoony sailing game that wasn't a Zelda title. It might've been a nice new franchise.

I remember someone saying back when PH first came out how they changed the sailing system because "in WW sailing was one of those things you either loved or hated, most people hated it."
I actually enjoyed it though. icon_biggrin.gif

Why would Nintendo try to remake Ocarina of Time it's the best videogame there ever was and it always will be.

WHY DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND THAT!

No. It isn't the best video game ever anymore. If you don't believe me, look at this.

That list has twilight Princess on it TWICE. And I don't see LttP on there anywhere. AND Super Metroid is not on the top 5 when it clearly should be. And Final Fantasy 7 isn't even on the list!? Considering all the praise constantly rained down on that game I would definitely expect to see it in the top 10! Credibility denied.

What? That doesn't even make any sense. Each game on gamerankings get their ratings by combining all ratings from the most respected gaming websites and magazines. You can't say that their credibillity isn't good, because that would simply be wrong.

I'm not saying that the list should be the same for everyone, but that list only states what is fact, and those are the highest rated video games of all time. So you are wrong sir, and I think you should be sure to read what a website is about before going off and claiming it doesn't have any credibillity. You may like AlttP more than OoT or TP, but fact is that both OoT and TP recieved higher ratings, and that's why they're on that list. TP is on it twice because it has two versions, GameCube and Wii. The list was not made by some guy, but hundreds, thousands of video game critics, and to be honest, they know what they're talking about. That list is the best representation of a "best of all times" list you could possibly ever get, even though you may like some games that's not on it. the list bases itself on fact, not on the opinions of all the gamers in the world.

That's because there are 2 versions of the game, the gamecube one and the Wii one. icon_razz.gif

That's not a good example; I disliked eggs before you said that. Besides, you're missing a key point to my reasoning; if OoT was as good as people make it out to be, I wouldn't be arguing this point. But since it isn't (to me it was just a Zelda game, nothing more. I'm guessing for a lot of people it's that it was their very first game, and I get that, I'm the same way about Tetris and Pokemon Red Version) I find myself liking it a lot less.

It was a decent game, to be sure, but definitely not great. It had a pretty good plotline, albeit one that is now standard in 3d Zelda games. It was the first ever 3d Zelda game, and sure, that's pretty cool, but that brings me back to the novelty thing. The graphics of OoT didn't have anything that MM didn't have. So for me, I don't get what's so brilliantly amazing about it.

Also, about the list, I would like to point out that Wind Waker, my all time favorite video game, makes an appearance on it, right before Halo 2 and Little Big Planet, two of my most favorite games to not appear on a Nintendo system.
