1986 - Nintendo releases LoZ for the NES.
1999 - First version of Zelda Classic.
2005 - ZC 2.10, the last stable version, is released on New Year's day.
2010 - THE END of AGN ?
I'm not going to publish a full obituary yet but I'll start thinking about what I want to say just in case.

In any case, if AGN dies, would PureZC become the inheritor of the title "The Official Home of Zelda Classic."

Attaching that phrase here may cause this site to get hacked, so I'd rephrase it if I were them.
Good point. But Koopa brought an interesting suggestion in "The Modern Zelda Classic" Topic that might offer a way around the name problem.

Am I the only one thinking maybe these attacks might have something to do with Nintendo?

Up until thirty seconds ago when i read that, yes you were. However, it does make lots of logic that someone may be upset that Lost Isle or such completely destroys several of the games that this someone has made, they may seek some sort of retribution or such...

Also Nintendo knows about Zc and are alright with it. The key here is that it's non-profit.
Conspiracy theories aside, AGN is a very unlucky site :/

I just can't understand...who could possibly want to take down Armageddon Games...?

Nintendo knows about ZC and they are alright with it because it's a non-profit organization. If they wanted to take it down, they would just simply file a lawsuit for 1 million dollars, close the forums here, and we will all be doomed.

However, being a member, I must agree with the majority of AGN's forums and say improvements are needed. Being a fairly new member of AGN, though, I feel that the more experienced veterans should have their two cents.
All the same, I do not wish to see AGN die.

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work. I think Zelda classic is protected under a fair use policy of some sort protecting fan games. Since Zelda classic uses no official NES roms and pretty much everything was fan emulated from the base up, meaning even the sprites were redrawn as opposed to being ripped, that makes it a fangame. If ZC were a romhacking tool instead, Nintendo would be free to go at our throats with lawsuits. If Nintendo was like Square Enix, they'd try it anyways. If anything, Nintendo is probably pissed that they didn't make Zelda Classic first. Let me tell you this: If they made it, I'd pay. Heck, even if they completely stole it and ported it to the DS, I'd pay!
As for being an "Obscure piece of freeware", it obviously isn't obscure enough to be safe from hacking.
If the site dies, let it die. The creators can make a new one. So long as the morale of the developers is strong, Zelda Classic will live on! As long as we exist, Zelda Classic CAN'T die.
