hmm...in that case, you used that key on the second floor. i would suggest you go back to the room with the block puzzle, then head right, down, then activate the warp to reach the boss.

The 'down' is what I need the key for??? Or is there another way to open that door? I tried an arrow, flame, bomb and hitting it with the sword and it wouldn't open?

BTW, I have also solved the puzzle a couple of different ways and can't figure out what it does? I had thought it would open the door but after solving it, each time I have tried the door again. Nothing happens, and I really don't think there is another way to solve it, if that is how it opens. One way, a block goes to the upper left with one next to it and one underneath it with one block left on the Right side. Second way, 2 blocks are on both sides. neither way opens that door.

push the bottom block to the right. then push the top-right block down and move the top-middle block to the left. now move the center block upwards, and then move the center-right block to the trigger.

you can "see" how the blocks move if you go one screen down from the block puzzle room.

That is what I have done. Quite a few times. I even tried it, moving the Center block down instead of up. (This also puts the blocks on the triggers) No matter which way I move them, the door of the room to the right does not open, if that is what it is supposed to do. Both ways, the top right block and the bottom block are on the textured tiles. Triggers?

that's so weird. o.O i tried doing the puzzle in versions 2.10.0 and 2.10.2. both versions work.

in this case, you might want to cheat your way past the room. enter cheat code "4" to turn on the "no walls" cheat, and walk right through the door. alternatively, you could try to download zc 2.10 again, but i don't know if that will help.

This is really crazy. I'm beginning to think my computer just doesn't want me to play this quest. I did download it again, but this time the first key I got is working all over the place. Again, this is in Level 2. (Still no problems in Level one or the trip for the ladder, etc.) I saved after getting the key, and then went back and opened doors. First one was the room next to the block puzzle. (The one where I have the problem in the other game) Didn't get me anywhere so I reset. Next was a small door near the room you go in that shows you the warp tile that you can't get to. Tried to go up from there thru the main door. It was locked but I could kill enemies thru it?? Next I reset, then came back and went thru that main door, but couldn't get to the other room where the big key is. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I am so confused now that I don't know where I was supposed to use that first key...

I'm going to keep trying with this one, and if it doesn't work, I will try the cheat code. Sorry to be such a bother. It isn't just games where my computer has a mind of it's own. It fools around with my settings quite often also. Like shutting off my TrackBall every few days.

I'm stuck in Level 4. I got the first key and accessed more rooms starting on the left side of F1 ON, but I haven't found a way to any other key or item (whatever comes next). It looks like I should next find the sword or bracelet, but I can't seem to find the way. Please help.

I finally got thru Level 3. found out I did need a key afterall.

Now I'm stuck in Hookshire. I have the boss key but am just going in circles. There is a room at top right that I need a key for, and nowhere else to go? (Hookshot in the chest maybe?) Thanks in advance for any help.

What does Trans. layers do??? I have it checked but am wondering why.

If you uncheck "trans. layers" then you won't be able to see transparent layers. That would be a problem. Especially in this quest.

I wasn't going to uncheck it, but just wondered what it does. How do I know if what I'm seeing is a transparent layer? Or don't I need to know? I just don't notice anything different.

Would knowing help me figure out where to go next in Hookshire?

Thanks in advance for any info.

try to find another key, specifically in the basement, left wing. it'll open a path to the white sword.

you'll notice transparent layers when...some things on the screen are transparent. ^_^' just keep it on because a lot of custom quests use transparent layers for subtle effects; in my case, i used them to make level 4.

did you unlock the giant tree with the boss key? if you did, the hookshot is in the next screen.

Now I really feel stupid. I kept thinking to try using it but thought it took a regular key.

Thank you.

I have the white sword from lv4 but cannot get to the 2nd bracelet which I need to do the block puzzles. In the upper room I am suppose to hit an orange tree but the sword is not the same as the one I have. I hate to cheat but have been going round and round for 2 days in lv4.

I figured it out.

I am in lv5 and just keep going around and around. I have found one room that I can change from orange to green. I still keep going around and around. I have triggered all the trigers that I can find and have been able to go in more places. I found another room that has the triggers in it, but I cannot get to the other side to be able to use them. I really need help. I have played this before but I don't remember where to go. HELP PLEASE!!!

@mcrawford:

if you've found the first key (which is in the basement), open the door on F1 to your left and go down a passageway. this will take you to a set of stairs on the right, which leads to the second tree trigger room.

to get to the first key, find the first tree trigger room and change the dungeon to solid green trees. then walk down one screen and left three screens. go downstairs and you'll find the first key.
