Ok, I have decided to reopen this topic for comments, but I have also done some reworking and adding of rules. Make sure to read them, and understand them, especially the rule that is colored in red at the top of the post. It pertains to why this topic was closed.

Revfan, I understand the feeling of never winning, but if you can't be a gracious winner, at least be a gracious loser and not mope about it. It reflects badly on who you are as a person if you keep bringing down everyone else with you because you keep losing.

Hey, I've never won, and I use plenty of detail. Frankly I always ended up against Gashin and sometimes Radien, and usually Linkus or NoeL, and Sharon. So, yeah, I've had some bad luck with SotW, but I'm working hard in OoS for that perfect screenshot. Skip a few for a now to create a really kick ass screenshot, and you might do well and maybe win.

Now, I'm not going to nag you for not using a beta, but why continue to make sidescrollers that way when the Roc's Feather is coming soon, in the next release?

As for screen design, it's all right, but the entire screen uses the same 9 combos. It looks fine, but hardly as a showcase.

DFW:

There's some good stuff going on in this shot, but the colors... ick. I've always dislike that orange used for those... um... pools of liquid. Is it mud? Or is it lava? We'll never know, because mud isn't that bright and lava isn't that dull.

The mountains are okay, but the ones layered on top of the top-righthand pool of "stuff" look awkward. The trees don't seem to fit the style of the rest of the quest we've seen so far, and unless it fits an explanation in the game, I can think of no reason why trees would be grey.


Anyway, I rarely null vote, but this time I'm going to. There's a real lack of new ideas going on this week. There are some new tiles, but that's it.

Well, they ARE right next to lava (despite the colour not being EXACTLY right (what is in ZC? )), so maybe they're covered in ash? Or the cloud/smoke coverage leaves them devoid of sunlight and thus have evolved to live without photosynthesis. There's plenty of cave plants that have no chlorophyll

Revfan, this may sound offensive but you seriously need to quit whining about losing. Infact, all that that tells me is that you are a sore loser. Instead of whining about losing, look at the other SoTWs and see who won them and why they won them. Your fancy ripped graphics aren't going to make you win as you think but rather screen design too. I probably already said that but that other shot you showed in this thread wouldn't get my vote either as like almost all your shots, it is far too empty. After all, from the looks of it, you are breaking rules 10 and 1, having fun. You are not having fun but doing as I stated before. Take it as advice to improve and not that you suck.

I completely agree. It is getting rather annoying. If your losing, at least don't make yourself look bad and continuously mention how badly your losing. You've been doing this for quite a while already. Please stop. Look DeathBringer said, just ripping things isn't going to guarantee you a successful SoTW.

I didn't necessarily say they had to be green. It's just that grey is a very unnatural color for any type of leaf. If the trees were turned to stone, just using a different CSet alone isn't really enough. They could be covered in ash, I guess, but only if the volcano just erupted. (And if that were the case, theoretically we'd see ash on the ground, too.)

But regardless, I just don't like the colors. If not the trees, then definitely the lava.
