Not saying it doesn't make sense in story context, it's just annoying in terms of forcing us to free him before getting the sand rod. Don't see why he couldn't have dropped it when Yuga captured him or something, that would've been better, but oh well, can't change that now.

Anyway, Treacherous Tower actually wasn't that bad, and now my three-heart run is complete and all items obtained, except Heart Container Pieces of course. I only have one, but I was forced to pick that up when I made my way through Treacherous Tower. Not too bad. Wondering if it's worth trying this in other Zelda games now...

Did you complete your 3 heart run in normal mode or hero mode?

Normal. I am not insane enough to try it on Hero Mode.

Couldn't there just be a separate thread specifically for discussing the released game?  "[SPOILERS INSIDE]A Link Between the Worlds Discussion."  Something like that.  Therefore, it is implied every post will spoil something about the game, and spoiler boxes become a moot point.  Win/win!

That would render this thread moot as all interesting discussion would move to the spoiler thread since there isn't anything to worry about there.

Why not?  As long as you're packing fairies, shouldn't it be perfectly fine?  It's how you get 0 deaths on the original LTTP in the Darkworld, when things start hitting hard, and you're just tanking your way through XD.

Everybody get up, it's time to get OHKO'd now. We've got a real rental fee going down. Welcome to the rupee jam.

Oh, you mean like those Hinoxes (cyclopes) and Bull knights (whatever they're called) that do 8 hearts of contact damage?

This isn't ALttP. So stop comparing it.

On the other hand, how do you people do no-death runs already, especially in Hero Mode? One hit and I'm done. Even with fairies. :P

This game is a sequel so I think we can freely compare it, and I don't see why people can't compare the two?

It doesn't have to be.  Every Zelda game from here on out gives auto-revive with packed fairies.  So what I'm saying is, as long as you're skillful enough and tank in moderation, shouldn't packing 4 fairies make Hero Mode a cinch for no deaths?  Or at least, 3 fairies +  Blue Medicine.

I remember how overpowered fairies were in OOT. :) I collected Blue potions still though because they looked nicer and reminded me of ALTTP.

Do your best to not get hit, use fairies and abuse the heck out of the Rental Shop. The Rental Shop alone makes a lot of the game pathetically easy. I haven't died once in this in either of my two runs, one run being Hero Mode. Of course this isn't 3 heart or Green Tunic runs or anything like that.

I'd bet it's possible to do a 3 heart, Green Tunic, 0 death-run in Hero Mode, but I don't feel like attempting it right now.

Comparing games, despite similarities and differences, is a perfectly valid thing to do that people do all the time.  I really don't get what the problem here is, and the more I look at this response, the more baffled I am.  Koh made a pretty good comparison because they're both Zelda games where enemies deal a lot of damage and where having recovery options is good.  What if instead, someone had said, "It's like why you use bottled fairies in the Forest Temple in OoT, because the Stalfos and Phantom Ganon can deal a lot of damage for that point in the game."  Would that have been okay since it wasn't ALttP but was the same exact point being made?

Do you guys just not read things correctly? I'm saying to not compare them in the way Koh is because not every enemy would be exactly the same from A Link to the Past. I'm not saying he's not allowed to compare them. I'm just saying to not compare two things when you don't know one side of the situation.

What happened is that we interpreted it differently.  Because that's kind of a thing that happens when multiple people read the same thing.  And I couldn't really see your side to it because you weren't being specific about why he shouldn't compare them, you just told him not to.

I honestly don't know how we're supposed to get all that from "This isn't ALttP. So stop comparing it." I don't see how this is our problem when your post was so vague. If you don't want people "misinterpreting" your posts, then you should probably put a little more explanation in your original post.
