I noticed Link doesn't get a Yellow or Purple hat from screenies...that makes me sad =(.

@Koh:
Yep, no special colored hats. It was just another disappointment in my books as I really like how the tunics in LTTP looked.

- The Non-Linear promise is half a joke, it doesn't get into motion until you reach Lorule.
Not true, you can do levels two and three in either order as well.

Non-linearity doesn't apply to dungeons also. You can go almost about anywhere you like in the world. Hell, you can even go wild with exploring at the very start of the game. ![]()
Also I guess the wand was found halfway in the game because otherwise it would have been deemed useless to rent and people will complain that there's "another useless item" again. I guess the only downside is the Desert has to be tackled after beating another dungeon first.

Someday maybe we won't need spoiler tags..

Couldn't there just be a separate thread specifically for discussing the released game? "[SPOILERS INSIDE]A Link Between the Worlds Discussion." Something like that. Therefore, it is implied every post will spoil something about the game, and spoiler boxes become a moot point. Win/win!
As for what you guys are saying about the gameplay, it makes me want to nab the game even more now. I might have to get my friend to buy it, so I can borrow his 3DS...

That's why I said it doesn't get into motion, in other words, yes, that choice is there, but I didn't say it wasn't. But like I said, it's like having a slice of the pie when you want the whole pie, and again, it really doesn't get in motion until you reach Lorule.

It spark stuns enemies.
It always makes me wonder though, just what on earth was Osfala (did I get that right?) thinking anyways?

Osfala having the Sand Rod makes zero sense. There's no sand anywhere between the shop and the Eastern Palace. That bit of forced linearity annoyed me, but that's about it.

It's just one of those little things that make the hero feel superior. Also, you had no idea what the sand rod did either until you got it. I would like to assume.

Actually it worked pretty much how I expected it to, since it was an item in Spirit Tracks. ![]()
It's also just safe to assume that even without that, that the Sand Rod has something to do with...Sand.

As a person who never played Spirit Tracks, my anticipation and expectation towards the sand rod was based around that frame of reference, I thought it tossed sand on its own, I didn't think it actually needed sand.
Also, lets think story wise, I doubt Osfala has ever played Spirit Tracks.
Oh, and just to add one more note. One could ask, why didn't Ravio just tell him? It goes back to Osfala's impulsive personality. I don't think Osfala would be an easy character to reason with even if Ravio is a persuasive nutjob.

Not saying it doesn't make sense in story context, it's just annoying in terms of forcing us to free him before getting the sand rod. Don't see why he couldn't have dropped it when Yuga captured him or something, that would've been better, but oh well, can't change that now.
Anyway, Treacherous Tower actually wasn't that bad, and now my three-heart run is complete and all items obtained, except Heart Container Pieces of course. I only have one, but I was forced to pick that up when I made my way through Treacherous Tower. Not too bad. Wondering if it's worth trying this in other Zelda games now...

I've always loved magical items like the rods, and it's neat that in this Link effectively has a magic rod in each of the four elements.
