Zapdos and Entei have been acquired. Ran into Latios for the first time, purely by accident. ... Matter of fact, it was when I was on my way to face Zapdos that I found it. icon_heh.gif

Been chasing Raikou for too long, and even though he's paralyzed and only has, like, 1 HP left, the damn thing breaks out of every ball I throw. I gave up for now and went after Articuno, the most difficult of the three birds at the moment. I started with 25 Dusk Balls and used six already. >_>

They're only my second and third legit Lv.100's, the first being SilverStar the Lugia back in the days of original Silver...
My first was Charizard in Blue. My second was Typhlosion in the original Silver. See a pattern here? icon_razz.gif
QUOTE(Lemon @ Mar 22 2010, 04:07 PM)
After you beat Red the Elite Four also steps it up quite a bit.
No... They step it up even before then. It's annoying, cuz I wanted to use them to level up my party, but they're too much for me to handle the second time (as of now). icon_sweat.gif

I've started collecting Gym Leader numbers, though, so I can get started on that, then start using the Elite Four to level up.
QUOTE(Golden Chocobo @ Mar 22 2010, 04:41 PM)
Alright, so after getting my last gym badge in SS, I decided to venture out for Lugia.

OMG. Stupid thing. I lowered its attack as low as it could go with Feather Dance, paralyzed it, lowered its accuracy as low as it could go with Flash, smacked it down to 1 HP, and when I began throwing Pokeballs at it... HOLY CRAP!! I threw 25 ultra balls and 13 dusk balls before I caught the stupid thing! Since I was very unhappy with that, I reset my game and went at it again. And guess what? Two dusk balls and I had it. TWO. GAH!! But yeah. That's my life.
icon_eek.gif

When I finally got into catchable position, it took me only two dusk balls, as well. Freaky. icon_blink.gif

EDIT: Articuno acquired on the thirteenth Dusk Ball thrown. I immediately saved after. icon_deformed.gif

Well, I just had my first encounter with Raikou. Was a short one indeed. Quite neat though. Too weak to be able to do anything currently.

Lv. 17 - Wooper
Lv. 22 - Togetic
Lv. 22 - Hoothoot
Lv. 23 - Bayleef
Lv. 24 - Furret
Lv. 31 - Pichu (Spiky Ear)

Yeah, considering my party is ~23 average, couldn't do much. Oh well. But yeah, Wooper is gone as soon as it becomes a Quagsire. I want to replace Furret, but it does really well for me. >.> But yeah, good stuff. icon_biggrin.gif

So, as I slowly but steadily round up all the gym leaders in the fighting dojo in HeartGold, I've begun a new game on Platinum with the following team;

JohnCusack the Magmortor
HitMeHitYu the Hitmonchan
DEADMOTHER the Cubone
OceanRape the Horsea
Party! the Delibird (2nd attempt at it, made sure to get one with Hustle and gave him decent moves like Ice Punch and such; thus far it's actually working)
Mr.Death the Duskskull

I'm on the second badge and have basically been destroying everything I fight. Can't wait to fight the elite four, woop woop!

I'm sharing Eb's sentiments about the Gym Leader re-challenges. Very efficient (especially because you can change the DS's clock icon_deformed.gif ) and quick. With a combination of fighting Bugsy, then Erika, then Jasmine, I got my Typhlosion up to level 85. Working towards the same goal with Victreebel right now using Brock. Victreebel's level 78 right now, so I'm getting there.

The tough ones will be the others (Pidgeot, Lugia, Gyarados, and Golem) because they're in the mid-fifties range in levels at the moment, and Typhlosion and Victreebel were both already at level 60 when I started. But once I get things rolling, it'll get easier. I think I'll actually skip taking on the Elite Four the second time until after I beat Red. I r hyped up. icon_heh.gif

EDIT: Oh, and tell me Lugia ain't loaded: Aeroblast, Thunder, Hydro Pump, Extrasensory. Very good balance there. I'd teach it Psychic, but its base attack is only ten points higher than Extrasensory, and Extrasensory has 30 PP as opposed to Psychic's 10.

I just found a shiny! Yay! Shiny Stantlers are green. Who would have guessed that?

So how does the gym leader rematch work? Is it as simple as the system in Platinum?

Not quite. Each of the gym leaders are absent from their gyms on certain days at certain times. A bunch are just missing most mornings/afternoons/evenings, but most you have to find at a specific time, like Bugsy in Viridian Forest Tuesday afternoon. Then there's Chuck and Blue, who you have to talk to other people to get their numbers.

Then (and they'll tell you when when you get their numbers/when you call them) you call them up at a specific time and they'll go and wait for you in the fighting dojo. Complex? Yes. Worth it? Totally.

Also the lack of adventure in these games really annoys me. They even created new characters in Gold/Silver to make it even more linear; there's no more adventure to these games, everything is pre-determined and you're told exactly what to do/exactly where to go. That sucks ass, and I really wish they would go back to simply implying; or let the player wander out through a cave until they realize they've gone the wrong way. Gives them a good way to level up Pokemans and makes it at least seem more like a non-linear game.

Thus far, Platinum is terrible with this. Every time I leave a building a character forces me to get an item, or won't let me go down another route because the correct route is south even though another characters already explained this to me. Sigh.

Well, I just beat Jasmine, for my 5th Gym Badge. >.> Yes, 5th... I completely skipped over Chuck, as I wanted to get back to Olivine to heal the Pokemon, so I didn't even mess with the Gym in Cianwood. Oops, but I was quite amazed that I managed to take down 2 Lv. 30 Magnemites, and the Lv. 35 Steelix. Especially considering my current levels.

Lv. 22 - Hoothoot
Lv. 22 - Quagsire
Lv. 23 - Togetic
Lv. 25 - Bayleef
Lv. 26 - Furret
Lv. 32 - Pichu (Spiky-Ear)

My Pichu was of no help during this fight. The Steelix took it out with one Iron Tail. The hero of the day was Quagsire, with the attack "Mud Shot", which took care of both Magnemites, also weakening Steelix, followed by Furret finishing Steelix with the attack "Surf" The rest of the pokemon I had fell to the Steelix's Iron Tail, plus I had to use 1 revive to bring back Quagsire, and 1 Super Potion to bring it's HP back up. I'd say I did a damn good job this evening. icon_biggrin.gif

Damn, man, I'm as surprised as you are. icon_eek.gif

Though you seriously might wanna consider some serious leveling up before you tackle the rest of the gyms. icon_razz.gif

Yeah, I figured I'd start with the Level Up process soon. I just got a Ponyta, and a Magby off of my PokeWalker. I caught them while I was at work today. XD I love the thing. Caught me a Wobbuffet yesterday, and have gotten many items off of it.

Well, half my party has hit level 85. Typhlosion, Victreebel, and Gyarados are ready, and they basically round out the typical starting trio: Fire, Grass, and Water. I didn't plan it that way, I swear! icon_heh.gif

Pidgeot, Lugia, and Golem are next. Golem's gonna be the pain, because of his speed. icon_frown.gif

Ok, now that our wireless is fixed, add meh peoples!

2966-0914-8642

Don't forget to tell me yours! I already have Angeal and AgentLym icon_smile.gif.

I may sound crazy, but I gave up Suicune for a Charmander, because legends only gather webs in my box! Also gave up a Dunsparce for a Bulbasaur.

So my party's infected with Pokérus. Interesting. I'm gonna have to infect a spare Pokémon and store him in the box to use for later.
