Alestance: You're having finals that late into December? I was always out of school at least a week before Christmas...

I'm at a technical school. We have four 3-month terms a year with a two week break in between(give or take a week) December 23th to PROBABLY January 15th is my Winter break. after that I probably get off around the end of March and my spring break is 2 weeks. icon_shrug.gif

I'm THINKING I graduate October 2010, HOWEVER I could end up graduating April 2011 too. After that, I have 6 months to find a job, and then I got to start paying off my loans icon_wacky.gif

I can say my free time is going to be cut drastically next term.

Needless to say, I'll ALWAYS have time to pester Joe and Gleeok about my scripts' faults. icon_razz.gif

I want to write a zscript tutorial in textbook style. I think it'd help a lot of you guys. The problem is I don't know much about scripting, except that the syntax is familiar. I did a little C++ in high school, plus I have to deal with LSL, another C-like scripting language, when I'm working on Quadraxis. icon_razz.gif

Anyone want to help me figure out how the rotation math works? THEY GET QUADRAXIS FREE! icon_lol.gif

I know the basics of ZScript, but not enough to make complex movements and whatnot. (In other words: parabolas, circles and all that fun stuff would be out of my reach without anybody else's code help. icon_razz.gif

Math and me don't get along...it can get pretty nasty between us to. Which is why I didn't take it this year. A bit of a bad idea, since I needed it to take computer science in college. But, as I said, math and I don't get along, so I figured if math was that important, I'd want nothing to do with it. icon_razz.gif

That's why I've changed plans to take english in university. About as opposite as you get. icon_xd.gif

I loathe math, myself. But thinking about it, a computer programming course would be PERFECT for people like you. Simply put: I only memorize formulas. If I need to do complex mathematics, I open up IDLE 3 and type in the python code to handle that for me. icon_biggrin.gif

Sure. What are you trying to rotate?

The simplest case I can think of is one object circling another. If we assume a 2-D coordinate system with axes x and y and an object is rotating around the origin with a radius r, the formula is
y = r sin a
x = r cos a
Where a is the angle (what units depend on what the sin and cos expect in Zscript).

So you can set a fixed radius r, a variable a to 0 and every (few) frame(s) increase a a bit and recompute where the object should be, then move it there. Whenever a goes over the top limit (depending on the system - 360 if it's degrees) reset it to 0.

If you want to move the centre it's rotating about, just add the offset on at the end.

Man, math is one of the only subjects I do good in any more... I blame AP U.S. History. Should never have opted to taking that class. I used to do amazing in my middle school history class. icon_frown.gif

And on that note, back to writing my history essay.

Ya, it called me a Pikachu at first. The difference was one question which I had two different answers to.

So, Togekiss huh? Do I want to know? icon_razz.gif If I recall correctly, it called Prospekt a Magicarp. Now that made me laugh. icon_xd.gif

Someone should really program one of those where, after asking you questions, it just picks a pokemon completely at random.
