Drawing without references is quicker and stuff, but it won't turn out right unless you've practiced studies enough. That's just how it is.

And although I respect your opinion and thank you for your time and critique, I don't believe that everyone has to be Boris Vallejo to be an artist.
Ah but that's just it; you don't have to be that good. Personally I find the cartoons in Adventure Time to be some of the best art out there right now. If it's pleasing on the eyes, then it's good. Which can mean anything from silly cartoons to epic paintings.

Enya's Runnin Late!
A few of a bunch of comics I'm going to send to my school paper to publish.. still toying with format, text, style, etci. I hate this format I hate it i hate it i hate it i hate it. 4 panels just does not to justice to the art of comedic timing, so pretty much all the ideas I have that are actually pretty good are completely ruined/mangled/undoable in the scrunching. It's a pity. Gary Larson & Steven P. I don't know how you do it.

Though you should consider working in a cleaner style. Maybe, I dunno, though.

I agree with Lemon that you should use models to help improve your techniques and skills, but I think it's also important to draw what you like and enjoy. Sure, some people may not be crazy about it, but that doesn't mean it can't be good.
Try experimenting with a few references. You could even try drawing yourself while looking at a photo or something. Experiment and see what works for you.

Improoving is hard work, even, or rather esspecially, talking about art. You can't improove without making studies. Because the human eye is so used to the proportions and anatomy of the human body that it will immediatly notice if they are off. And the only way to learn how to draw them right is to observe and copy reality. It's easy like this. And "style" is no excuse not to reference reality. You can only stylizise after you learned how reality works. And only than.
It is perfectly fine to draw the stuff you enjoy. But if you are serious about art, than you also have to work through the basics of anatomy etc. It can be frustrating at times. But it's so worth it.
Mr. Pimpy, I love the pop art / retro-charme of your work. Two thumbs way up.

I've been drawing since I was a little kid, so I guess it just comes naturally to me. Just tryin' to help out a fellow artist. Sorry if you don't agree with my advice.
Why sorry? There's no need to apologize for anyone just because people have different opionions. It's absolutly okay for me to think one thing and for you to think another. Life would be terribly boring otherwise. If I sounded rude, than I'm the one who's sorry.
Also, I believe what comes naturally is talent and creativity. However, skill and technique is something you have to learn.

Pixel art thing looks delightful.
I got published!
Mind you the article is really bad and the topic is the product of a slow news day, but hopefully some people will enjoy my stereotyped characters there. Will be running my comic next week as a daily. Woot.
