Easily the new version is better IMO. I love them walls (except for things I pointed out elsewhere) and it looks like something out of a SNES game now. Great to see how distant this is getting from a simple Classic remake and how it's becoming a unique tileset. I wish I had these spriting skills. I really do ;_;

Well, not really. I agree with the above actually. I am just more passionate about the GB style (which I somewhat abandoned with my recent shots anyways). I made/edited some new mountains to go with the non-Zelda look, though, they're far from perfect as of right now and have their fair share of downsides (I can't go too complex with them ATM). Consider this a very early sneak peak:
(e: Updated)
There is still things that need to be improved or expanded upon, but I feel more satisfied with these mountains. I used the Pure Mountain perspective. This version of the screen might not make it into SotW in time, but oh well. :V
Holy hell, Shane. I want these graphics. They're gorgeous. The screen composition is great as well. Really reminds me of an early SNES-era RPG.

What? That's your first time using ZQuest? That's actually quite good. The ground is kind of short on detail around most of the screen, with all the bushes and rocks and whatnot clumped together on the north side, and the mountains look too square, and the placement of the trees is too ordered and artificial (unless they're planted that way intentionally in-universe), but otherwise it's a very decent shot.

Look at how the Gameboy games used those mountains. They shouldn't be so rectangular. The ground needs more variation in the sand, and maybe some stone details, but the over all flow of the screen is good.

Here are some of my really old screens that I just stumbled upon:
I still like the general idea.
This! THIS! The Goron statue looks pretty awesome as well. From the content you're showing, I can guess this idea was going to be a major story influence?

I opened ZQuest and a made a screen out of the ordinary. It's a chess forest desert, a bit on the surreal side of things. I am not quite happy with the checkerboard tiles in the sand yet. Some of the tiles were shared by Shane (Sharne?).
Edit: This is better:

Cool! Even though I have bad memories of those unpredictable Godfather horse heads from Link's Awakening.

Looks like something that would fit very well in a dream setting. Great work!

Did some cleanup on a few house interiors that I swear on Demise's grave isn't for a project of mine.

Starting point. No, it isn't Link's house.

The local shopkeeper of Marunna Abode. (No goods set yet).

Hmm. What use shall this statue have...?
