Wow, Tree, that is a fantastic screenshot; I absolutely love the amount of detailing and the variety with which you created your screen! I'm really looking forward to your quest.
Thankies~! I like to put as much life into my shots as possible. I want players to feel immersed when playing my game. I'mma need to get some more animal sprites, though...

I'd consider taking out or moving up that bottom bird, as its perspective is off by just enough to throw off the rest of the perfection that is happening in there. that isn't as much of a problem toward the top of the screen, but right along the bottom edge it is totally fucking with me.

I can't really see what you're talking about, but I trust your judgement. I'll move it next to the tree on the left to see if that helps.

Holy cow Shane. That's absolutely beautiful. I love the way you've used the mountains, and I love the entire atmosphere the first shot radiates. The second has a perspective I rarely see in ZC, and the snow falling through the roof is a nice touch. Consider me interested. Is this gonna use default ZC engine, or scripted gameplay to match the very non-ZC graphical style?
Thanks! I'm not sure about the gameplay yet... but I'm leaning towards semi-scripted gameplay. I think there will be a great emphasis of using magic spells and upgrading them as you go along. I'm also aiming for a storyline that has an unconventional way of being told, for the most part at least. The premise is new too, I think.
I want to try and get into ZScript one of these days... Maybe sometime late 2016 when I intend to properly begin the project.

I never thought of using the tiles like you did in that interior shot. It's a subtle difference, but it makes a huge change in the feel of the area. I have an area in my quest that I haven't quite been able to get right, maybe tweaking it so it's a bit like yours might help.

A few of the stones look a bit cut, I think an additional tile to make it look smoother would be worth it. Also the upper small walls (no idea how to call them) rendering the walls in the 2nd screen seem a bit odd to me, I have the feeling they lean a bit too much to you (out of the screen) and I kind of don't like the gray tone of them next to the gray tone of the actual walls.
Did I already mention how awesome it does look?

Well, not really. I agree with the above actually. I am just more passionate about the GB style (which I somewhat abandoned with my recent shots anyways). I made/edited some new mountains to go with the non-Zelda look, though, they're far from perfect as of right now and have their fair share of downsides (I can't go too complex with them ATM). Consider this a very early sneak peak:

(e: Updated)
There is still things that need to be improved or expanded upon, but I feel more satisfied with these mountains. I used the Pure Mountain perspective. This version of the screen might not make it into SotW in time, but oh well. :V

It looks nice and all, but I clearly prefer the old version. It looked clean and polished and had the spirit of simplicity.
Actually they look so different to me I cannot even compare anymore ![]()
