And what's wrong with the door frames being a separate color than the walls? Takes out some of the monotony of a single-colored wall setup imho.. But if you guys don't like it, I can always revert it to non-gray...

That's literally not what I'm saying at all. I LOVE that they're separate colors! I don't know where you're getting that from...

Actually, the door frames are fine as it is, I think what Jared meant was how "harsh", the tones of blue (walls) and purple (floor) are so different from each other.

This is CLOSER to what I'm saying. Thank you, Demonlink. I'm saying that the contrast between the BRIGHT silver and DARK blue don't match nicely. I love that they're different colors. But the brightness of them are just too opposite!

Here is an example. This is what you have:

And here is something I feel would work better.

You want dark blue, Jared? Here's dark blue..

uJk46aX.png

Now my image looks like the blue & white polka-dot thing you posted. .. Which is nowhere near what I've got.. Kappa.png

Here is me brightening up the blue a bit more, now it feels like it'd be suitable for an ice-themed dungeon, .. but its not an ice dungeon.

... Blargh, guess I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Lol, oh gosh Sephiroth. I personally like the second one.

Isn't this dungeon just for a boomerang? I think you said this was your first temple, although I'm not too sure. Or is it a pure water dungeon?

No, this is the actual first main dungeon of the quest. Level A contains the boomerang and the sword, which the entire map for it has been posted in the map thread, but here's a link to it again in case you're curious. ... I might go back and revisit it with similar edits like I'm doing to this dungeon set...

e: Yet another colorization change, lightened up the floor with this edit too..

e2: ... Now I wonder if the water fits in, wonder if I should lighten that a bit more too...

Sephiroth, if you don't mind, what do you have in mind? I'd like to make another palette just to help you get inspired. That is, if it's okay with you. :)

EDIT: Seeing your new shots, they look better, and yes, you should definitely lighten the water as well.

@Demonlink: I have the overall coloring down, just trying to fix Jared's problem of things apparently being too bright for some parts and too dark for others.. I'd like to keep the current overall hues that I have now without mixing them far too much.. :v

Don't worry about my opinion. It is your quest, after all. Do what makes you happy.

While y'all are on colors, could I get an opinion on these?

I feel like the ground might be a bit too saturated. I can't really tell, though.

There's not enough contrast between the colors! (Just kidding). The tiles are cool enough, and they work. Don't have any criticism on this one, nice job.

EDIT: Maybe making the brightest gray (the top tiles) a bit darker, then it would look better. That's my only suggestion. :)

Now it looks better! I still have some complaints about the wall colors, but that's more of a personal thing. Bravo!

@Grayswandir, love your colours.

@Sephiroth, it looks a bit better than the original walls, but I liked the Indigo-version the most so far. My biggest complain here is that while your original colours did not look too great I liked the theme behind it. Your new theme looks a lot like a ice dungeon and that is also a nice theme, but I would prefer getting back to the idea you had from the start.

BTW, how do you all create palettes so easily? I cannot even set up one colour getting darker (it ends in a bunch of colours that seem to have no connection, you might get the idea that they get darker but even that fails at times for me...

@Astromeow, I love this blue tree.

@Nightmeres, the stairway seems a bit small compared to the rest, like made for minish link. The stumps of the trees also look a bit odd, a bit like they have no roots and are floating.

grayswandir: that's nearly perfect coloring.

Seph: if you are going to bend to every suggestion and try it all out, I think you should try grey rocks with silver or blue borders and floors somewhere between the blue from your walls and the purple from your floors.

Nightmeres: that's VERY nice. here it is for those not following the link:
