Welp. Spring season is over. And I'm still watching si shows. I didn't even think many of the summer shows looked interesting. But here I am. With six shows. Ace Attorney is still one of them, being a 24-episode show. Here's the rest:
Handa-kun - A prequel to Barakamon, which is a show I highly enjoyed. However, whereas that one was about the misadventures of a hotheaded calligraphy artist cooling his head on an island in the company of a quirky little girl and the chill villagers, this one is about the hotheaded calligraphy artist in high school. He's adored by all, but he's super paranoid and thinks everyone is out to get him. It honestly reminds me of Sakamoto in a way, if Sakamoto was a screw-up at everything and still managed to improve people's lives somehow.
Re:Zero - This actually started in spring, but I kept hearing positive buzz about it and decided to check it out. It's actually really good. A guy is sent to a fantasy world (though it's so far never explained how) and every time he's killed, he's sent back to a checkpoint. There's a lot of mystery to it, and he pretty much has to solve them or find a way to avoid the deaths, while building relationships with a girl, who's a candidate to become ruler of the kingdom, and her allies. It can be fairly bloody, and the last episode as of this post (episode fifteen) was damn disturbing, but it's a good show.
Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars - Before I picked up Re:Zero and was looking at summer shows, I realized that none of them were action shows, so I picked up one that looked mildly interesting. Regalia is... tough to describe because it hasn't really explained its own history yet. There are these mechs called Regalia, and they're piloted by young (apparently not human) girls, who also may be the mechs themselves and they transform into them? Not sure yet. Seems to have a "monster of the week" format with hints at a deeper plot. It's decent so far.
Rewrite - I saw this was an adaptation of a Key visual novel, makers of Clannad and Kanon, and I enjoyed those shows, so I thought why not try another? And so far it's alright, though the supernatural elements are taken up to eleven compared to those two shows. There's a somewhat-interesting mystery aspect going on as well, which could be neat. Also the girls are cute, that's what everyone plays/watches these for, right?
Sweetness and Lightning - Despite the somewhat-badass title, this show is anything but. It's about a single father who's a teacher trying to raise his young daughter. They live off cheap meals because he's a terrible cook, until one of his students offers to help them cook better food. Cute show, I like it, now if you'll excuse me, I need to go mop up the puddle that is my melted heart.
