As for which one I'll pick, it'll depend on what my two friends decide on. Since we all have the game, it's better if we coordinate to make sure we each get a different one, then breed to trade between us; no decisions to be made there.

I would have:
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Surf/Aqua Tail
Iron Defense
His only drawback is that he has pretty weak offensive stats.

EDIT: In fact, a great Meganium moveset would be Energy Ball, Toxic, Leech Seed, and Protect, but every single move is a TM.

Have you ever looked up the probability of getting a shiny? Gooooood luck~
I know, I know. >_> I have a friend who's gotten 2 shines by Soft Resetting and he got them at a little over 3000...I just feel a little My-Manliness-Is-Being-Questioned. But then, his maniless should be being questioned because he had the time to spend all that for two Pokemon.

I have only ever run into one shiny Pokemon after hours and hours and of gameplay. This happened in Diamond, a game that I have over 300 hours on
I shiny Lugia would be pretty effin sweet to have, though.

I only had one shiny. It was in Diamond, I caught another Red Gyrados
Ever tried chaining? I think they got rid of it in HG/SS (and it took awhile to get the hang of it for me) but you can get shinies pretty easily with that. I got myself two shiny Cubones, a shiny Nidorino (now a Nidoking), two shiny Nidorina (one now a Nidoqueen), a shing Eevee (You know dats right.) and a few others. Once you get up to 40 its really easy to find a shiny. I'm glad they got rid of it in HG/SS though. It sort of lessened the value of non-legendary shinies.

Well, I bred my Typhlosion and am gonna send the Cyndaquil to my sister when it hatches. I bred another Pichu so I can send that, too. But when she finally catches a Ditto and breeds her Croconaw, she'll send me the hatched Totodile, so that kinda cuts Squirtle off the list if I decide to raise it.
But I'm definitely picking Torchic when that time comes, cuz Blaziken owns.
(That, and the other two starters suck.

It's too bad she didn't have another Spinarak, or I could've kept it. I like Spinarak. Too bad it's only in Gold.
EDIT: I keep forgetting about this... But yeah, last night, I caught Moltres after several resets to get him into perfect catching position. Used Surf followed by Dragon Rage with Gyarados, then switched to a dummy Pokémon that got killed in one hit, then pulled out Victreebel and used Sleep Powder. That was my strategy. Though, oddly, on the time I actually caught it, ... I caught it on the first ball (an Ultra Ball) thrown.
Oh, and I ran into Raikou today. I had Pichu as the first member in my party, but I wanted to inflict some damage upon it before it ran, so I figured I'd try using Thundershock (the only damaging move Pichu has so far), and, well, it paralyzed Raikou.
It still ran away, though.

I'm thinking about dropping Heracross and probably getting a Raichu. Electric types are a must on this game.

Well, I have a Golem now. While trading the Pokémon to my sister, I remembered that Graveler evolves in a trade, so I was like, "Hey, trade me your Spinarak for my Graveler, then right back." That way, I got Pokédex data for Spinarak and a Golem. :O

Get a Spinarak, dang it! Did I tell you that I mopped the floor with that Red Gyarados with an under-leveled Ariados? :O It's honestly the best bug pokemon I've used. Granted, the original Gold probably has a good few differences than the remake, but still, Heracross can go back to the tree you bashed in.
Yeah. I'm playing the original Gold, instead of HG. I feel so out of place now.
