Just received my copy this morning through the mail and i have to say, THIS GAME IS GORGEOUS. Best Generation of Pokemon for me. HANDS DOWN icon_smile.gif

Will be back in about a week or two and see if anyone is willing to battle through Wi-Fi, but for now i'm off to play through this game twice icon_razz.gif

I have White. If you get that Ghost/Fire or Dark/Dragon pokemon, would you mind breeding it and giving me an egg? I'm still on the 4th gym.

My FC is 3352 9628 5836

Hey, guys! I actually ordered Pokemon White (and Black, for a friend) a while ago, and it should be here tomorrow or Friday, and I'm getting pretty excited, but I wanted to ask a question.

Do you guys know of any good sites that might help a non-Japanese speaking person (like myself) get through the game and understand the storyline/moves/menus/characters? I'd like it to be pretty spoiler-free (pokemon-wise) if at all possible. Just wonderin', since you guys seem to have had hands-on experience for the past bunch'a weeks!

Thanks!

Yeah, I've been romming Japanese style, until my pre-ordered English copy comes. I don't know what the heck they're saying...

Well, Google Translator could work... if I could type Japanese. ^^' I'm just looking for maybe an in-game "text-dump" that has been organized and scripted into English (maybe like one of Shakespeare's plays or something). Such as:

Professor: Which pokemon would you like?
Belle: You go first! I'll choose after you choose one.
Player: *opens briefcase, sees 3 pokeballs*
...
... and so on.

Just text for the characters' dialogue throughout the game, following the storyline. Has anyone found anything like that?

I'm not at the point in the game where I can trade...and I doubt you can trade across a rom anyway, but wait til' I get my English copy of Black icon_razz.gif!

Famitsu gave this game a 40/40. Does it live up to that?

I'd give it like a 36 or something.
It's good but it's nowhere near R/B/Y or G/S/C, much better than the other 2 generations though.

Do I sense nostalgia icon_razz.gif? Anyway, I'm loving many of these updates. Now if they had the ability to get to another region, then it'd be competing with G/S/C/HG/SS for me, because having another region to explore just adds more game content, and it totally foreshadows battling a previous trainer (AKA Red). It'd have been cool if we could travel to Hoenn from here, then battle Brendan.

@ Christian:
I've got one I could give you... just give me a little time to get out of this underground... sand... place. ^^'

I'll add your FC; here's mine: 0604 - 2229 - 4243

@ Others:
I'd definitely rate this game a 38+ outta 40. If I could understand Japanese, I'd probably rate it a 39+, if the storyline was any good (which I believe it is). The special effects and the magnificent detail (and attention to it) make this game my personal favorite. And, while nostalgia forces me to take that statement back, I know that in 10 years, I'll look back at this game and remember it fondly. =P Some of the Pokemon are... dumb looking... but definitely nothing to get put-off by. The music is top-notch; I dunno if it is as good as SS/HG, catchiness-wise, but there are definitely some tunes that are going on the ol' iPod after I'm through with this game.

By the way, I found a nice site that has just enough storyline-translation to keep me (sort of) in the loop: http://pokemon.marri...ite/walkthrough

It is a great help; especially after (and before) some gyms when you get stuck, thanks to lack of Japanese-understanding brain cells.

But, I'd definitely recommend White/Black! An amazing game that won't disappoint (unless you're one of those people who play Pokemon games purely to see the new Pokemons, in which case, you may be both excited and bummed).

NOTE: See my new favorite Pokemon! *points to avatar* And don't give me no lip 'bout his stats and moveset! Rawr.

No lip about that stuff, but just lip about it getting cut off! *shot* Lol, I'm already impatient about getting my English copy =(. Maybe I better actually finish Platinum first...I never actually beat the PL...and I started over, so I'm kinda a ways away from there...

My brother ended up getting Black, backing it up onto my flash card, and using a translation patch on it. From what I've seen, it's okay. Some of the new Pokemon are neat, but most are just meh. The story seems to be EXACTLY the same as every other one (no surprise there), and the gym designs are basic and bland.

Not to mention the gym leaders don't move! D:
