Thanks, HK. Yes, there's a secret. And this quest is going to be hard, so don't expect it to open a lot.

Am I the only person who has trouble picking a tileset sometimes? I mean, seeing Robin's work with Tone of Voice, it looks amazing. But, love love for DoR is undying. I also love BS....I hate that there's so much to choose from! XD

Dude, very much do. And I'm pretty sure at one point, every single one here has had a hard time sticking with a tileset.

Yes... I know how you feel man. I cant stick to one tileset :/ Or one quest. Which sucks.

Anyway here's a screenshot....in Zquest. Again.

Not bad there, it gives you the sense of mystery and gloom. I think that GB looks more effective when given dark pallets than all of the bright ones that came in default. Labrinnya OW's pallet just burns my eyes in ZC. The only thing is the lower snake pillar's top - it doesn't look right because it appears to cut through the foret brush. Make the creams outside of the actual pillar on that tile transparent.

You are the guy that makes me want to use GB over DoR. No lie. That is SO FREAKING beautiful, I COULD DIE. I REALLY hope this quest gets finished!

Temple Ruins. Yeah working on two quests that makes use the GB set but with two differnt styles.
This one sticks by the GB limits. Meaning this map is bloated as it is. But I would love feedback on the design through as much as possible. When I mean design I mean the use of the current detail or my use of the stone walls etc.

Thanks icon_smile.gif.

Edit: Take #2 on Temple Ruins! Click here! What's changed:
  • The walls near the 2x2 waterfall has changed for the sake of a better look.
  • The groups of cracks have been spreaded out.
  • The tile-to-dirt border on the top right screen has been altered a little for a better look.
  • Also added a built in pillar to the bottom middle screen just to match the top left and right screens.
Comparing the two I like my second take on it.

Very nice MK! It's a wonderfull mini map. Not to much wrong with it. The only problem I see is that there are a lot of open cornered screens. I mean, I really don't care about open corners. They don't make a screen any worse. But a lot of people here do so you might want to watch out for that.

Overall, it's a beautiful map and has a wonderful rustic feel to it!

How about some shallow water on the ground along some grass and bushes, maybe even one tree or another? GB limits is all fine and dandy, but it doesn't have to look too boring. Obviously heavily borrowed from the Temple of Seasons but it's quite nicely put together.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I hope this quest gets finished, too, but there is a lot to do and it doesn't feel right when i play it. These screens are a good start in the graphics department, but I have a LONG way to go before this is above terrible to play.

Temple Ruins. I listen to your feedback Sheik let me explain the changes:
  • More rubble as been added for a more ruin-ish look.
  • Three dead trees have been added in that big dirt patch on the top right screen.
  • Added four regrowable bushes on the sides so you can get some hearts before entering the towers.
  • Added rocks in the water.

Please tell me if this is better or worse icon_smile.gif. I did try grass and some small pools of water but it didn't look really swell icon_unsettled.gif.

Much better. Now I'd ditch the symmetry and make each tower's screen a little more unique. You see the screens one by one anyways and than it's sorta boring if the layout is far too symmetrical.

Okay icon_smile.gif. I try to brake it up a bit and see what I come up with. Sadly, I'm not on my computer witch contains my quest right now. When I get back I'll see what I come up with. Thanks for the feedback icon_smile.gif.

Looks good MK, but I would suggest having a road going out to each of the towers like the one going to the center temple. Also you need to not just add rubble in the corners of the walls, but it would be a good idea to put some to fill in some of the corners of the screens and to make each screen less plain. You could also have the occasional patch of bushes sprouting out of the dirt. I would heavily suggest having monuments, pillars, or other ruins besides the walls to add more interest to the screen and also create more obstacles so the player has something to do on all the screens beside just hold down one direction. There are a couple other small things like you can mix up the rubble with other rocks, if something is destroyed the destruction won't usually have a pattern. Same goes with the pits below the reddish orange tower. You could also get rid of the weird bubbles in the water, it might look better if the water was just open.

Looks good overall, hope my criticism can help you make it even better icon_smile.gif
