Pretty linear breather dungeon for an item needed to reach level 6 and also my first attempt at a freeform dungeon with depth. The upper right is the boss room with the upper left being the room where the guy in the room "surrenders" because you're too strong. Oh and where you get the boss key, there is a permanent secret flag that creates a flight of stairs on the wall so you can go straight to the boss. All I have to say is take a wild guess the main enemy of this dungeon given its shape and another wild guess what the boss is :P.

Spoiler

Can we get some more of this please

It's like final fantasy ii

That is truly something amazing. I've never seen the Classic set used in such a way like that before. Good job!

My WIP overworld for a mini-quest I'm making:

That bit of mountain on the far right looks awful in retrospect. Anyway, the overworld is just an 8x8 area. I tried by drawing on the screens with the dungeons first. Now, I'm attempting to build a path around them.

Looks pretty nice. Again, similarly to Adam's map, this gives me quite a bit of Z1 nostalgia :D

That looks really nice and mysterious! I really like the use of mist as it gives a really spooky atmosphere. Really good job!

Though you may want to change the water tiles to something that doesn't look like shallow water. It can confuse people pretty easily :P

This reminds me of a mix of Pokemon and Mario, with Zelda thrown in. It's awesome.

Here's everything so far save for the level 3 and final dungeon areas:

I should go back and layer some of the mountain tiles on instead of just having sandy areas with the corners bare. But other than that, I have 42 / 64 overworld screens designed. Next stop; level 2 completion and testing, then adding an area around level 3 and finally making the area leading up to the final dungeon. Russ was right; I do get more progress made when I'm not worried about other people liking or not liking my quest.

I've plowed through a good chunk of my Hyrule Overworld in just two days, just like every other quest I start and give up on! So far I've completed the Trinity Village, Windswept Plain (West), and the Veiled forest.

Ahh, I see you fixed the mountain on the right. Looks much better now, I must say. :)

Why... are you using sprite cset colours for the overworld? ;-;

I'm not going to lie, I despise this trend, especially since every GB Zelda quest that follows this trend end up looking almost the same, or at least, some people get confused. There's so many better palette options to choose from in the tileset (assuming you have EZGBZ 2.50), some of them were made by talented PureZC members so that people didn't have to put up with the "bright and blinding" Game Boy Advance palettes, now no one is using them. :P

With that said, the map is fine. Above average and functional design. Keep it up!

@RedmageAdam Really nice progress! Also yes, the mountain over on the right looks much better now.

@FlameCursed Everything that Shane said applies here. Sprite CSet overworld colours is a horrible trend. There's a reason palettes exist, and honestly they look much better than the same sprite CSet colours being used over and over. I would suggest to use some overworld palettes (like LA overworld, or the OoS seasons overworlds... or even the OoA past or present ages). Nonetheless, that looks like a really great map! Keep up the great work!

Hmm. To be honest, I never considered that. I'll definitely try it out. Thanks for the feedback :D
