I haven't picked through everything, so if I don't mention something it's probably just because I haven't seen it...
Sheik I think your apple is extremely impressive, even if it looks like it's made of stainless steel, and that's just because it's in pencil...I would need tracing paper to draw that well. I like the "Steampunk Zelda" sketch too...you're a steampunk fan...You like William Gibson?
Mr. Pimpy, I'm not sure what it says about me, but I really, really like your crucified sausage. I think it is, sincerely, good art. Very good stuff. That shot with the boy in the hat is just marvelous.
Lemon, you should obviously be illustrating children's books and much else. I'm completely impressed, I've looked at a number of your shots in this thread and really enjoy lingering on them.
Fausch, your sketches look pretty good to my eye, and I particularly like feel of them. I like the Brian Marshall sketch quite a bit, but I think I'd like the Dave Mustaine even better than that if there was more detail on his hair.
Alestance, from the few things I've seen in the last couple pages of this thread, it looks to me like you are on the verge of being an highly impressive artist, and this piece might already be there once finished.
I have no real critical feedback to offer, as I don't draw and wouldn't know where to start.
That said, here is my one and only humble drawing I'll submit...this was done by finger on my iPhone...I've never seen it so HUGE...it looks better iPhone sized, I think...it's supposed to be a very small piece of fruit...
That's the best I've got

But other than that: I love the colours and the effect, especially the missing eyes make it interesting.
However, what is it meaning anyways? Is there any message. If you draw such stuff such as no eyes, you should have a reason to do so. Of course one can draw such things out of randomness, but it's always better to have a deeper meaning.
Jupiter, thanks for nice words =)
Edit: Nope, I do not know that William Gibson -person. "Gibson" makes me think of "Gibdos". I could google it, but I have to go offline doing stuff. oO

Dedicated to a close friend of mine, who recently died of what is believed to have been an overdose, though the investigators didn't really release any information around what happened. Obviously, it isn't anything that's hard to make, and I only used Paint, but I'm pretty happy with it, and I think it got the point across. There's the spiral "of death", but along with that, there are also the "arms" that stretch out from the spiral, symbolizing that there's always a way out, even though it gets slimmer by the end.

Thanks guys. I removed his eyes to achieve racial ambiguity and add a touch of sorrow and nostalgia to the picture.
I would not have guessed that you wanted to achieve racial ambiguity (which is sorta bad, because art has to get the message across almost immediatly, but that may also be my fault here), but the emotion definately comes across, which is very good. That mixture of "goofing around", alas having fun and having no eyes -> beeing helpless really gives it a sense of bittersweet nostalgia along with the cothes, the colours and the texture. Very nice. I love the mixture of sadness of and bright colours. I'm a sucker for such stuff.

I'm guessing this is colored in Photoshop, but the fact that it looks like it COULD have been done in real life with watercolors, colored pencils and such is quite cool, and even more impressive if it actually is.
I can't help but mimic the claims of really weird anatomy. If the chest was bigger, the arm would be ok, but the really really long arm along with the really tiny body makes it look like something unnatural is going on in that sleeve. I get the message of ambiguity you're conveying with the missing eyes (and if that's not what you're going for, that's what it conveys. I think the scent of yellow you added to everything makes it impossible to feel sorrowful, though they really are terrific so that's just fine.), but I would really like to see this with some blue eyes.
Racial ambiguity is not displayed at all because of the missing eyes, nor is nostalgia really. Racial Ambiguity would only really be implied if he weren't Caucasian and instead just pure white or something. I guess I can see nostalgia moreso, but only because of the clothes; though that wasn't my childhood.
Migo: The story behind that is cool... but I don't really get any of that from looking at it. It looks like you just took a random file, fire.jpg or something, and put a small layer over it.
EDIT:

BOOM.
Second (recent) attempt at acrylic paints... and I didn't **** up majorly! Quite the accomplishment to myself, but I can have no party because there are so many tiny things that absolutely bug the **** out of me about this. From the failure to get hair tones right (and correctly paint individual hairs, spent a good hour trying it

Mr.Pimpy; I can see Asian, but Caucasian was my initial reaction... regardless I don't get racial ambiguity out of it.
Migo: Well, I didn't feel it was straight to the point; as it required the explanation to make any sense. But in these cases, it's moreso thought that counts, so I do feel bad about criticizing something made in that spirit.

It's just that I have a very different look on art... I mean, to me, anything can be art, even if it doesn't look particularly beautiful.

Oh, don't feel bad. If I wasn't looking for criticism, I probably would have said so

Then you would like Duchamp's Fountain: http://upload.wikime...p_Fountaine.jpg
The whole argument that anything can be art makes me think of that first.
As for Lemon's piece, I don't get the Asian feeling at all. The red hair and blue eyes says Caucasian all over it for me.

I can appreciate the initial shock value in putting a shovel up on a wall and calling it "art", but to me it's still bad artwork. (to me) Art should be something either aesthetically pleasing, something that's had a lot of effort put into it, or something that makes a very bold, accurate, and pointive statement. It's amusing to see people put simple objects on display and call them artwork (thinkin Yoko Ono's apple here), but after one person does it, it immediately becomes old and I'd really rather not waste my time looking at something some guy pulled out of his fridge and put on display. Can anything be art? To someone, sure. But it's still not very impressive or moving to just look at a fountain.
Hah, and Mr.Nate, as far as ethnicity goes, we're talking about Mr.Pimpy's piece, not mine.
