@shane, that looks really cool. especially the forest brush stuff, is that custom or have i just not seen it before? might be a little busy with the repetition of that grass tile. and i assume you are referencing our debate about the water tile (maybe not exclusively) however i wasn't commenting in that regard on any of your screens - almost every screen you showcase is something that i aspire to design wise.

Thanks. The forest brush is pretty much custom, so it's not in the tileset. I already fixed the grass since someone else pointed out the repetitiveness. Also regarding what I was referencing, I pretty much was referencing every time I kinda referenced the Gameboy Zeldas in my criticism rather than pointing fingers. I just wanted to clarify any anonymous misjudgment that I do like any form of EZGBZ (or general) usage and screendesign as long as it is good of course - sometimes I do let preferences get in the way. ![]()
But yeah, thanks for the kind remarks. As I said, your feedback has been addressed and is greatly appreciated.

That looks so amazing man. Everything about this is just beautiful... terrific job.
Firebird stuff:
This is really sweet. I think the thing I love the most out of this shot is those stairs on the left. They make the shot stand out quite a bit.

That looks really sweet. For a simple 2x2 field, you sure made it full of stuff. I like it.
Something that I wanted to ask a while back: why the leaf piles in most Firebird creations? Am I missing something here?

Hm, I think the leafpiles are something Jonathan came up with. They are solid. It's useful when you don't want the player to walk behind trees. I also use them when plain green behind the trees at the edge of the screen feels to open.

I never noticed the leaf piles behind the trees. It does sound like a very good idea, and I keep the trees fully-solid like in the GBC games anyways. Thank you for the advice.

1x2 trees that look like they are 2x2 are lame.

I see now. I thought the leaves were just for aesthetic purposes, I didn't realize they were also solid. Anyways, the map is coming along really well. It has a "less is more" vibe to it.

Want to elaborate on this? I don't get what you mean.
