That looks really cool! Reminds me a bit of LA's Tal Tal Heights for some reason. Either way, great job man.

Thanks Eddy!

(I updated the screen slightly to fix a few things.)

That's a cool shot I see! ... ... ... *cricket chirps*

Seriously though, I love this shot, and it's also awesome to see that Firebird's Tree tiles blend in so well! Nice shot! *Gets pelted by rocks*

Oh ma gawd Jared, that's amazing. It's probably just me but the grass seems a little weird to me. I can't really explain it but it seems more odd than everything else. That doesn't really matter since that is one amazing screen.

Really? I thought that darker grass really makes the screen feel different! It seems others agree as well. But thank you, as well as everyone else!

Yeah, it's just a personal preference I guess. But yeah, no problem.

Crying because this screen is literally perfect.

Like, I dunno what it is. But it all flows together perfectly. (Haha, get it? Flows? Water? *booooo*)

Experimenting with the EZGBZ tileset, just checking how good I make make each area.
Hopefully if I get the hang of the tileset I'll make my next game with it. :D
Tell me what you think!

Looks really good! It seems pretty true to GBC. I can't really think of any improvements, it's great.

There are some boundary errors with the trees and the beach. Try layering the tree onto the border.

thats intentional, its supposed to be like the GBC games. Not really a tile error.

Try doing the palm trees like this. Also the palette is desperately calling for something more warmer.

What do you mean by the palm trees?

Also:

Fixed the colour issue.

EDIT:

Basically, the GBC Zelda games allowed sand underneath their palm trees. You can do the same for your own. Just follow the shot I sent.

Also two more things to consider:

  • Be careful not to use too many trees. Trees or any other solid object, a simple screen like this should not be hard to walk through. A tree should only break a border if it's really needed. Otherwise overusing it can make it a bit bothersome admittingly.
  • I would say keep the seashells orange. In advance keep the amount of detail choices at minimal (e.g, shells and wooden planks for the beach)... that way each area has a new detail and whatnot.

Edit: New changes look good.

It looks beautiful, Joel. I personally don't care for when people stick completely to GB/C standards, but that's just me. I feel that now that we have the tools to go beyond what it was capable of, then we should take advantage of it.
Aka, the inside corners of the water borders that the trees cut off could be put back on with layers!
