Map 23 Screen 7A (Caverns). Side Warp A (South) warps the player to Map 1 Screen 7A (One Screen Massacre) and Tile Warp A of that screen warps back to here.

Additions/Changes:

  • Map 23 Screen 2C (Caverns) has been changed to include a lock block which needs to be opened in order to exit. The screen states of both that screen and Map 1 Screen 2C (One Screen Massacre) have been set so opening the lock on either side will unlock the other one.

  • The issue where you don't transition to the Misery Ruins DMap when transitioning from Map 1 Screen 5A (One Screen Massacre) to Map 1 Screen 5B (Misery Ruins) has been fixed.

  • New midi has been added in, for crystal caves. From Kirby's Great Cave Offensive because crystals.

  • New crystal tiles have been added in. Includes Large crystal, four variations of standard crystal and floor crystal (walkable). These have animated and non-animated variants.

Kill the FireRobes to open the stairs.

 

(And for potential future uses of Din's Fire to unlock passages, note the lit torch arrangement here and how it matches the unlit torch arrangement on overworld screen 47.)

 

Also:

 

* Caverns DMap given Level 11 with "Continue Here" enabled so that continuing after dying doesn't drop you on screen 00.

* Switch on overworld screen 04 doesn't black out when triggered.

* Misc FFC water detail in deep water set to "Ethereal" so as not to interfere with swimming. (Basically only my screens.)

Goes right to Lit Landing, up to Mount Snow, in to Underlit Cavern (on the left).

While making this, I forgot that Underlit Cavern was supposed to be the first way to get to the West, so if we want to keep it that way, I'd suggest perhaps making it impossible to progress (at least until later) coming in to the screen above from below. Works as a nice kind of preview/later-game shortcut.

In other news, this triple border means a lot of palette switching. We could fix it (or some of it) by making Lit Landing/Mount Snow also use the Desert Palette (since they mostly use non 2/3/4/9 csets). If screen 14 turns out to be part of Mount Snow, that would be affected, but I think pretty much no other screens would be (as of yet). Other issue is having palette swaps to cset 1 on other entrances of each, so we'd have to decide what the worst of the two evils is.

And, final note, entering Lit Landing via screen 36 doesn't change the dmap. I've left it for now, but that's something to note.

This screen houses a rare cactus species, on the brink of extinction. It grows on the border between a hot, but humid desert, and a tundra highland. There are said to only be three in existence.

 

Overworld, Screen 13. That weird looking button opens up a short cut through the rocks once you get to it from that side. South sidewarp goes to the desert, and the east is not set. And hey, boulders.

Map 23 Screen 7B. Another screen which you are required to light up with the Prism Wand. Be cautious when editing this screen - There is a fair amount of behind-the-scenes work here.
