Master Ball on Lugia? DON'T! Seriously, save it for one of the runners, like Raikou, Entei, or Latios! You'll regret wasting it on Lugia.
I was actually planning on stealing your Dusk Ball method for the others. icon_deformed.gif

Are those guys really that difficult to catch? I was under the impression that Fast Balls were the best against the dogs...

But the dogs run away the first turn. So you can use a fast ball, but if they break out, they're outa there, and have to find them all over again.

Hey, I'm patient. And besides, there's two of them to catch, so it's not like I'd have to keep chasing them anyway. But what about Latios, then? Would the Dusk Ball method work on that or is it too strong?

EDIT: ...

...

......

I'm not using a Master Ball on Lugia. Or Latios. Cuz guess what?

Not if you have a really fast Pokemon that can use Mean Look! :O

Sooooo...About that Pokewalker: is it useless before a certain point in the game? I just don't wanna activate the thing by pulling its tab just to find out I can't use it yet.

False! The dawgs use Roar, which technically makes you run away... so no Mean Look! I'm pretty sure it'll work on Latios/Latias, as long as the 'Mon that used Mean Look stays in. You could also Baton Pass the Mean Look to another of your team if you're really crafty.

Eurysilas: The PokeWalker is able to be used as soon as you're able to catch Pokemon on your own, so no waste. icon_smile.gif You can even get some pretty good early game players, like Kangaskhan and Machop. EDIT: You're also able to get Murkrow if you want a Dark type without trading, but it's quite a few Watts.

They still have roar? Dang! Isn't there some item that prohibits you from being roared away? Or, would it be possible to get something fast and, after having them roar away once, use disable to get rid of their roar?

You could try freezing them, couldn't you? Or putting them to sleep? Or are they immune to that? It's just, as soon as they thawed/woke up, they'd flee.

Anyways... I performed a similar strategy to catching Lugia that I utilized in my last runthrough of Silver: Start with Weepinbell, put it to sleep, switched to Pidgeot and used Sand-Attack until I couldn't use it anymore. Switched to Typhlosion and Leer'd it a few times, then back to Weepinbell, put it back to sleep, and used Cut on it, then Vine Whipe when its health got lowered. Luckily, it didn't have Recover like it did in Silver, so that helped. I had to reset a couple times, but when I finally got it down into the red, I caught it on the second Dusk Ball. Awesome.

I'm at the gate to the Indigo Plateau, almost ready for the Elite Four challenge. I looked at my party from Silver when I beat it the first time, and it was something like this:
  • Lv. 46 Typhlosion
  • Lv. 44 Lugia
  • Lv. 42 Weepinbell
  • Lv. 38 Pidgeot
  • Lv. 43 Red Gyarados
  • Lv. 39 Graveler
Here's my current party in SoulSilver:
  • Lv. 44 Typhlosion
  • Lv. 37 Pidgeot
  • Lv. 40 Weepinbell
  • Lv. 35 Graveler
  • Lv. 43 Red Gyarados
So I'm pretty close to where I was in Silver (minus Lugia, but he was only used for an Ice attack, and Gyarados is replacing him for that). Of course, I'd like to get each party member to at least Lv. 42 each, and might as well match SS's Typhlosion with S's Typhlosion to make things a bit easier on me. I have no clue if the Elite Four's Pokémon are identical to their originals in G/S/C, so it's probably for the best if I go in with a better party than the one I used in Silver.

Man, dis is gonn' be fun. icon_deformed.gif

Well, good luck.

So I went to the Pokeathalon. Did a speed challenge. Got first place. Game froze. Dang it's frustrating! But on the upside, I did manage to get a Pinsir in the bug catching contest, and still not even get third place. icon_razz.gif Oh well, now I just have to wait for Saturday to get a Scyther.

I didn't know Mewtwo was in the game until I was walking around Cerulean City and noticed that CAVE.

Kanto is still lacking in stuff to do beyond fighting the gym leaders; but the real treasure is just seeing the re-done areas. Sooo wonderful. It's to bad Cinnabar is still blown up.

Also, I'm replacing the Sunflora in my team with a Magnezone and replacing Pigeot with a Muk. Who'll I use for Fly? **** if I know. Maybe I'll try to raise a Delibird again.

Nope. The Red Gyarados with Ice Fang nearly at level 40 was all I needed to take them all down. icon_smile.gif

... Oh, and a Weepinbell at about level 35 that could handle the Horsea and their evolutions. icon_heh.gif

Alright, second Elite Four attempt.
Buzzsaw, the Level 40 Meganium!
Batman, the Level 39 Crobat!
Boomtown, the Level 41 Houndoom!
BrklnRAGE!, the Level 40 Heracross!
Boat, the Level 39 Lapras!
Bwiffins, the Level 40 Mamoswine!

This team is looking a lot more solid, and can handle threats my previous team couldn't deal with, such as Poison, Electric, Dragon, and heavy Flyers. I think I've got this. icon_smile.gif
