Dayum, another great screen from Sheik. I'm really running out of things to say, it's amazing XD

Reminds me of a Gameboy Zelda game. I dig it.

Thanks for the reply Sheik.
Took your thoughts into consideration and produced the following:
I'm quite pleased with the result. While not shown in the screenshot, the new greens look really good on the vines that go up the mountains.
Any extra thoughts/critique on the palette/screenshot is more then welcome.
The palette looks real good.
However I would stretch those trees a bit... that may sound vague, so I included a screenshot:

I hope that makes it more clear what I mean to say. It's most advised to try to make the center most walkable and put the focus on it. Try to make the corners and most of the side blocked off so that they really become less important. Besides that, it's also annoying in ZC to walk into a tree(or something else unwalkable) just 1 tile from the screen border.
Of course that's just my opinion and you should do whatever you think seems best for your game.

I think the palette could be a little darker if it really is supposed to be a forest (or maybe some transparent foliage overlay), but regardless this is a really great screen. The graphics are marvelous! I think I might even take those beautiful forest brush tiles from the Firebird set (I already ripped quite a bit from it).

Yeah I was debating the palette choice, but think of it more like an overgrown garden. I really prefer the happy colors for it.
Edit: As for the forest brush: if you want the rounded corners (instead of the boxy ones that come with the tileset) you can rip them from the screenshot. I have edited them to be a bit more like the LttP ones.

Not sure if I love the resized tree's, Sheik. Love the trunks, and the very top of the tree foliage is good as it complements the bushes, but the middle and lower foliage of the tree could use some work (I was never a huge fan of Relic's version of the MC Tree's).

I agree that the foilage is kind of messy. I didn't seem to get it right, though. And because it doesn't look horrible right now either I kind of stick with it. Maybe I'll find something to replace it with, maybe not. ![]()

Thank you, I did indeed rip them from your screenshot.

These are a lot better than the original LTTP ones.

I chose to go back to the GBesque style and drop the LttPish stuff. The scaling of most of the other tiles is fine with the LttP scale but the NPCs and sprites look just weird. The GB look does much better with the small sprites and I will stick with that. That means I get to redo two and a half areas, duh.
Anyways! Have a shot of Link taking a leisure stroll in Outset Village. This is my take on the first couple of screens in Zelda 1:

Reaaaaally nice stuff! I'm seriously running out of things to say besides: great job man XD
Either way, I should really show off a screen sooner or later... probably give another sneak peak of Hero's Legend 2?

Really nice screen! I like the detail and it seems really mysterious and spooky, I like it a lot.
