I do agree with LtM on the subject of the non-linear aspect suffering somewhat from it being an overworld we're already familiar with, but it's still pretty splendid to me.  All the extra stuff they've added, they did a great job on.  The extra caves and mini dungeons are all honestly really well designed so far.

I should probably start slowing down though, considering I'm through 4 of the Lorule dungeons already.  I didn't care much for how short the Light World felt, and it would've felt a lot longer if I kind of didn't instinctively know where to go (or if the Power Gloves hadn't just been handed to you).  In PH/ST, it always bugged me how Link was stuck with the generic sword for so long, but in this, they give you the Master Sword on a silver platter.  Still, other than the Tower of Hera (which maybe I blame on the fact that I watched that video of someone playing through it), all the dungeons are so well designed.  I can't even decide on which one I like the most.  They're all just that good.  And with how the items are handled?  Really well done.  Ravio's shop system is fantastic and it's made the game what it is.  Earning up the rupees for them felt so rewarding, and on top of that, it makes the actual dungeon items themselves more interesting.  Mainly because none of them are required, but they're all so darn useful when you get them.  You pretty much have to go out of your way to get them, but it's always worth it.

Also, that baseball mini-game: 10/10

Go to the place where you got the flute in ALTTP. I got the X button at the beginning of the game.

Nearing the end. Final boss time. Again, IMO this game is amazing in every way. Short, but it's been fun.

Guess I'm the only one taking my time. Been looking for the HCPs mostly and upgrading/owning the weapons.

I'm still bothered by the rental system as it really ruined some dungeons to me. Normally there's about half of the dungeon you do before you get the item and then the other half with the item. The dungeons feel so short because I already have everything I need and there's really nothing to explore for other than Rupees (Now useless as I own everything. Why couldn't we have something else to spend rupees on?) or Keys.

So far the game hasn't had much difficulty other than one boss which was more tedious than difficult. Item usage is also suffering heavily since there's only one item used per dungeon. I've yet to see a puzzle that requires two items yet, which also disappoints me.

I've only done 2 Lorule dungeons so far, plan to do another one or two tonight.

The upgraded Hammer is also a tad overpowered oddly enough. Does 3x the damage of the Master Sword. I've been Hookshotting and Hammering just about everything. Now if only the stupid meter wasn't in the game.

So far what I've played, I can't put this game all that high on my list. It's probably going to end up below at least LTTP and LA.

The whole point of the gauge isn't so that you spam attacks. You got to think. :P

I beat the game, review contains spoilers:

Overall, this is the best 3DS game for me. And it's very high on my favorite Zelda list. The game was cheap (AU $60), but the price certainty didn't reflect the quality of the game. If you think this is just a "HD Remake" (according to a YouTuber), think again.

4.5/5

Made it to Lorule. What dungeon do you recommend that I should tackle first? And I wonder when I get the Hylian Shield.

I started with the Dark Palace first. I tackled them randomly afterwards. But they're all pretty much good to tackle anytime.

The soonest I can get this game is next Friday, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Just finished the game not long ago, probably going to 100% it and then start a Hero Mode file. Supposedly there's something extra hidden in Hero Mode so I'm eager to check that out, not so much eager to deal with certain enemies' quad damage; that's gonna be killer. Also the fact that fairies only restore five hearts in this game... I never lost all fairies, but that was a shocking realization; I'm probably gonna rely on potions with one fairy as insurance for Hero Mode.

Anyway, general thoughts on the game, I very, very much enjoyed it. I'm letting my thoughts sit for a bit (and also waiting to finish Hero Mode) before I decide its final placement but at the very least it's displaced Oracle of Ages at my number five spot; the big four (A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, The Wind Waker, and Skyward Sword) are another matter entirely. Dungeons were generally really good, clever, and stumped me a few times. Palace of Darkness and Ice Ruins in particular were really amazing. Bosses were mixed, none were really too challenging but for the most part they were fun. Story was alright, it took a good (if not in a bit predictable) turn, and I'm glad that it wasn't shoved in your face too much. The open exploration was amazing, and as far as item rental, well, I kind of ended up forgetting about the whole thing being a gimmick, because it fit fairly well. I kind of wish there were a bit more restrictions and balanced it a tiny bit better, but overall it worked well. Admittedly you can end up buying all the items really fast, too, so there's a little less urgency. I guess it depends on how much you explore.

All in all, great game, it doesn't rely as heavily on A Link to the Past nostalgia as I worried, and was well worth the day-one purchase. Any doubts you have about it should be put to rest as soon as you get lost in the experience. Job well done, Nintendo.

I'm curious as to what and where these changes in cutscenes are. Is it just dialogue? If so, that'll be a shame. Oh well.

Right now I'm in the palace of darkness, man this place has got the name right. It is a dark mofo in that dungeon.

And also has anyone found any new shield yet other then the one you can buy in the Light world?

My roommate left for Thanksgiving and let me play this while he is away. I just started, but it is really fun so far. Makes me feel like a kid again.
