Working on Xenoblade right now. A good game with strong character development and copious amounts of sidequests. I've been playing it for ages, and there's still no sign of it ending.

Welp, me and Russ finally beat the game over co-op; no cutscenes though, I'll either have to look those up or wait till I get a better comp to play it through solo. Yeah, I stand by what I said above about it being mostly better than Episode I, but the final zone was kind of a letdown in that there wasn't a real stage, it was just an extended boss stage. It was fun, neat, and a good twist, but I would have liked to see them do a full level with that. But ah well.

I honestly only liked White Park because it had that Twinkle Park bit in the music. The very first time I played that level, I found myself humming along to the music just a few seconds into it, and it took me a while to figure out how I was able to sing along to a song I hadn't ever heard before, and why the tune started to sound familiar.
Yeah, I was the same way. Well, I mean I didn't hum along to it, but I was certainly thinking "I know I've heard this before. It's from Sonic Adventure..." So it was a neat little easter egg. Also, there's a small remixed bit of Flying Battery in Sylvania Castle Act 2 that I didn't notice before. Now I wonder how many other shout-outs there are.

Metal Sonic was unbelievably unfair with the coaster-destroying attack (I'm playing Beta 8. I downloaded it a while back, but never got around to it until now, and the lack of any changes to the retail version never got me wanting to swap up. I'm pretty sure they didn't nerf that part of the fight, though.), but it was still my favorite battle in the game.

Also, I liked the first boss for that same reason, I just wish I hadn't watched a YouTube video on it, and spoiled it for myself. (Same reason I didn't bring it up earlier.) I just wish that they'd have the head duck down more often so you weren't forced to use Tails so much.
The coaster-destroying attack only got us the first time, then after that we killed him. And yeah, some of the forced reliance on Tails can get annoying, if only because of that annoying time-consuming animation each time you used him. Fortunately, in co-op, your character gets dragged forward if your partner is way ahead of you and you just float beside them in a ball until you press a button to release yourself, so whenever we needed to fly, Russ just did it on his own; we did the cooperative fly move when we needed extra lift.

No, if they're smart, they'll at least wait until Episode 3 before doing something like that. If the level design and engine has improved this much, then E3 should be even better. (Probably just deluding myself, though) Besides, there's still a couple loose ends they can wrap up. For one thing, on another forum, somebody brought up that just because the Death Egg got wrecked again, doesn't mean the Little Planet is freed. I'd kind of like a revisit to some of the Sonic CD themes, and seeing the possibilities of having the Time Stones and Chaos Emeralds together. Plus, there hasn't been a real "Doomsday"-esque Zone yet. You've got to have one of those. (Just realized, the Time Stones could also possibly explain why E1's bosses were all rehashes of old encounters, but then we might be going too close to Generations' storyline.)
I pretty much like every idea in this portion although I don't think the Time Stones would be the explanation, since the story of the game was just that Eggman was using his "greatest inventions" to attempt to crush Sonic again. But everything else you've mentioned? I'd honestly like to see that, because that could be pretty freakin' awesome.

I'm wrapping up Devil Survivor so I can get started with Devil Survivor 2. I'm loving this game a lot more than I thought I would. I wonder what ending I'm going to get?

I turned on Sonic Adventure DX for the first time in I don't know how long. Figured I'd play a quick level before letting my 4-year-old brother play for a while. Accidentally got the last emblem needed to unlock Sonic Chaos, so Alex got to learn a bit about how the Sonic series used to be, at least the Game Gear ones.

I'm at the final level of Distorted Travesty, but got stuck and now I'm busy trying to farm enough money to fill up on HP refill items. The room I'm at has you having to haul ass to different colored safe zones before you take massive damage. If you miss even a single jump by a fraction of a second, you're completely screwed. You simply can't get far enough to overcome the frequent auto-damage and catch up to the pattern. I'm hoping that with enough items, I can just tank until the pattern repeats and I can get another try.

Other than those two games, I'm busy playing:

Final Fantasy IX (it is hard to drudge through this game. It's just too boring, but I still want to do them in order.)
Monmusu Quest (Monster Girl Quest - Very well written visual novel/RPG with very nice artwork. NSFW if you ever lose a battle, though)
Sonic 4: Episode 2 (Stuck on final boss, but don't really feel like trying all that hard.)
Pokemon White
Radiant Historia (Long stretch spent forgetting to save, then dying made me have to put this down for a while. I'll get back to it soon, though)

I meant to update my progress on Xenoblade. but I forgot, I managed to beat the game. BAM Best game ever!

Still I need to play it again to 100%ed if I can. Where I can say I've fully beat Xenoblade.

But for now I need a break from that game, so. I started up Lost Odyssey to finish this one off again.

Hey Ventus, are you still playing DT, or did you finish it? Do you happen to know a good money-farming spot for endgame? I'm trying the Mega Man portal at the Secured Data Segment, and killing the first 5 or 6 enemies in 1 shot with Mental Insurrection over and over, and averaging about 15-20 Internetz each time. I'd love it if there was an even faster way to do this, because right now all progress through the last level is completely on hold until I can get enough money for HP items and the last set of upgrades.

Thanks. I'll try money-farming there.

As a warning, don't enter Black Rock Fortress until you've gotten all the extra hidden upgrades you want to get. Something will happen that will make searching areas more difficult, and it'll last for the rest of the game. Although, to be honest, finding all those extra little pickups, such as the Heart Containers and magic upgrades, don't seem to be all that helpful in the long run. You'd do much better to focus on finding Skill Points and Rings.

So, I dug out my ancient NES and hooked it up today. Did this because my 4-year-old brother Alex found my Zapper gun, and wanted to play with it. He's now playing Duck Hunt for the first time in his life. He's only been playing the game for about 3 minutes, and he's already brought tears of nostalgia to my face. How, you may ask?

He's already screaming "I HATE YOU, DOG!!!" and trying to kill the laughing dog with the gun. *sigh* Good memories. I got my first NES when I was 2, and I still remember doing the same thing...

ah..Classic moments when you get a kid that has never even witnessed the fun of the NES.
It does the same to me. I know I got my Snes hooked up with the game StarFox in there, and my friends Kid brother (About 7) asked what in the world is that. I told him its the greatest thing he'll ever play!. He started playing Starfox, and he made it to andross on the first try and Lost (I knew he would It happened to me the same way When I was 6) And he yelled at the Tv that's it I'l beat this game if it kills me!

That made me feel nostalgia like crazy. (I miss those days of being young ah Nintendo you made my child hood the best thing ever!)

Edit!: Oh yeah thanks for the tip! Kurt on DT.

Diablo in Diablo III is a heck of a lot easier if you have a heaping pile of Fire Resistance and a way to (Spoiler -> ) kill your clones quickly. They hit hard. Really glad they drop Health Globes.

So I beat him. Found my first Legendary item (Thor's Hammer) in the Nightmare mode Cathedral Level 1 this morning. It was weaker than my Templar's current weapon. icon_shrug.gif Just a bit. He still hits like a pussycat, but eh, he occasionally draws fire from me.

Having to take a break from my second run though of Xenoblade. Still playing Lost Odyssey. trying to find and open every treasure chest is quite annoying and tiresome. Working on getting achievements is actual quite hard icon_razz.gif

You can get any of the missable treasures in auction houses. The hidden treasure chests are a pain in the ass.

I decided to do a second playthrough of Eternal Sonata but this time on PS3. I just love the artstyle of that game so much. And holy cow, Devil Survivor got a lot harder on Day 6.

I'm at the finale to Distorted Travesty. The part I'm now stuck on is (spoiler tags in case anybody else playing the game wants it to be a surprise)

Spoiler

Basically, it's the second-final boss battle. Words cannot describe this horrifying battle. I found a video of somebody playing against the same boss. Somehow, he managed to win the battle, so you can see every single part of what I'm up against. Check this out:

Shroud Lord Battle

Bit of mechanics explanation for those who haven't played the game. Dash-jumping gives you a split second invincibility frame in mid-dash, mainly used for dodging attacks or navigating solid (sometimes moving) walls of insta-kill spikes. It doesn't work on everything, and can only be used so many times before it needs recharged.

Also, by hitting an enemy or boss with a specific sequence of attacks in a single second time-frame, you can "cripple" it, reducing its defense to more manageable levels. I believe the cripple sequence for the Shroud Lord is "1: Any physical attack while mouth is open, 2: Full Swing attack". Unfortunately, the only times the mouth is open is when he's firing at you with a HP draining attack, so oftentimes, it's not worth taking the damage and losing progress.

I've still got to kill this thing, and then take down the actual final boss... Somebody pray for me, I'm going to need it.
