Ya know, I'm with Lemon here. Just look at the water starter. Sure, it's okay, but if they made it a little more monochrome, got rid of the shell, and made his head a little more normal sized, you'd have an awesome/cute otter starter. Nice, and simplistic. But they made it too detailed, and it suffered from it.

Also, the double attacks sound neat. I hope they make plenty of them though, so they're not just some useless neat side feature nobody ever uses.

I can totally see some over-powered combinations arising from this, but who knows, maybe they'll find some balance somewhere.

There is, nor ever was any balance in Pokemon.

Most competitive games aren't really balanced either.

Just look at Meta-knight in SSBB.

Starcraft I feel is still the only true competitive game. I don't play it as such, but eh, it seems pretty balanced.

Regardless of that though, Pokemon is really terrible when it comes to being balanced. Truthfully, I really dislike how they haven't really done much to improve the battles from a complex game of rock paper scissors. icon_shrug.gif

There is a sort of "balance" in that out of the few "competitive" Pokemon there are a lot of different combinations that can achieve success in a competitive environment. True, it is almost exclusively rock-paper-scissors, but with the twist that both players can reasonably predict the other's move and then move to counter or double-counter.

It's a game of pure numbers, which while seeming very strategic, more comes down to "Which player knows the Pokemon so well that they can predict what moves they carry and what stats they have buffed?" Such frustrations eventually led me to stop playing because you can win or lose very easily on luck.

Who was moved to his own tier so that people don't have to suffer through him if tournament coordinators decide to ban a tier. icon_biggrin.gif

The last commercial in the first video really caught my attention. Looks like they're taking the champion thing very seriously, almost religiously, now. Looks neat. The high-tech go cart thingies look cool, and the online play is awesome looking. But other than that, looks to be the same old stuff. What does have me curious though, if Team Plasma isn't trying to awaken one of the legendaries, how do they get involved in the story?

They're busy being hypocrites. They want Pokemon to live outside pokeballs and not fight, and they're gonna do it by...fighting.

Anyway. So far, I'm honestly not impressed. Show me actual gameplay, not OHKOs.

The same way Team Rocket did: semi-realistically. icon_biggrin.gif

Look at me, discussing realism in a thread about Pokemon...

Or, they could have a plot like in that movie where the legends (Dialga and Palkia) come to you, because they are in an epic fight, and are causing havok around them. You know, the tiema doesn't ALWAYS have to be involved. They weren't in Gen I or II.

Japanese Pokemon Site saying it's Black & White!
Well, I am actually suprised they went back to the whole "color" thing. Pearl/Diamond/Platinum were precious stones and materials. icon_shrug.gif

pokemon black and white are being based off of yin and yang

Starter evolutions are out. Otter looks awesome. The rest, eh, ugly-ish. But we got an awesome otter, so it's all good. icon_razz.gif

Yeah, those images were already released... of course, Serebii was too paranoid to believe them, but they already had a picture of 2 of the evolutions... friggin idiots. I'm definitely getting the grass snake, it looks freaking amazing in all of its forms. Can't name it Yoshi, though, thanks to that final evolution D:
