I got another of mine to show off:
Alestance Sketch - I'm finally getting the hang of bodies I think. This one is part of an image that is gonna show off the entire Random Insanity crew. The protagonists, that is.
It's gonna get ink'd and colored eventually.

This one is actually a little older, but I got my scanner working only recently. Yeah, I'm not only addicted to tLoZ but also am a sucker for Steampunk. This will be important later...
That's hard core. This may have some insight into the secret rectum...

These "sketches" aren't shaded, or cleaned up because I plan on going over them with pen first, then deleting the pencil line-work.
I use Artrage, infinite pencil, ink, and paint, without silly trips to the art supply store a hundred miles away.

Careful with that. Depending upon what kind of pen/ink you use, it could smudge when you erase your pencil lines. That's happened to me a couple times with some of my artsy-fartsy pens. I'd say test it on some scrap first.

Actually, painting with ink works another way. Traditionally that is. You don't use any pencil but make your "scetch" with the ink. Therefore, you mix a drop of ink with about a cup (depending on how intense your ink is) of water to have these very ight lines. Than you make the "real" lines with pure ink.
For "inking" pencil scetches I'd suggest use of a thin black felt-tip or similar. That works simply best on normal paper and with erasing lines underneath it.

I make a new layer for the ink, and then I make a new layer for each individual object's coloring.

So far, so good.

Rather than going immediately to drawing all those lines so definite try instead doing more shading. Noses for example, shouldn't be one solid black color. We have ridges there, and that should be reflected with a less defined line of some sort. Same with cheek bones, and the lower neck (which right now looks really weird).
Also the purple effect thing doesn't look good at all. I'm guessing it's supposed to be some black magic of some sort, but the main problem I have with it is the way you tried to show the light from it reflecting on him.
Find some pictures online of someone standing next to a light bulb, put yourself next to one in that sort of fashion and just observe the way light works. You'll find it so much easier to make these things look amazing if you just get the lighting down.
Sheik: It's an apple man. Everyone draws those for practice.
