Yeah, the negativity is both astounding and quite sad. It's just a little spinoff game, it's not the end of the world. Where was all this fan rage when Link's Crossbow Training was revealed? I mean, sure, it's okay to think it doesn't look interesting or not like the Dynasty Warriors gameplay approach, but this just means, shocker, it's not for you. I'm pretty sure there's already plenty of people who think certain entries in the main series are boring and not for you; I know there are for me. Zelda II, Four Swords, and Four Swords Adventures are already drastically different than the rest of the series. What's the problem with one spinoff? Now if they suddenly decided "We're gonna ditch the formula and make the series a completely different genre entirely," then sure, I'd be pretty upset too. But there's an easy solution if you're not interested in this game, one that's already been said: Don't play it and wait for the next actual entry in the main series.

Me? I'll probably play it eventually, though I wouldn't call it a day-one buy. There isn't enough for me to see to really have an impression, and I haven't played (or even watched videos of) other games of this type. I'll pick it up eventually, just to see what it's like.

I think what people need to realize in this thread is that this is not being made by Nintendo.  It's a third party game, so any first party effort wasn't shoved to the side to make this game.  An alleged Majora's Mask remake isn't going to be scrapped because of this game.  Zelda Wii U isn't going to be dropped because of this game.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Tecmo came to Nintendo saying "We'd like to try a Dynasty Warriors game on the Wii U, but we're afraid of it not selling well."  Or maybe Nintendo simply wanted more third party support and went to Tecmo to pitch this idea.

So just relax.  We're not gonna lose anything here. :P

Honestly, this is brilliant to me.  Not because I really like the game.  In fact, I'm not fond of the genre much myself, and I'm not sure if I'll get this game.  But I've seen a lot of people super excited about this game online.  There's tons of people who love Dynasty Warriors, and I've already seen people pledging to buy a Wii U because of it.  It's stuff like this that Nintendo needs to do more of.  As long as Nintendo constantly keeps track of these third party titles to ensure that they don't bring in low quality, I wouldn't mind having third parties introduce Nintendo's core series into new genres more.  After all, the more people buy Wii Us to get those titles, the more companies will start to make games for the system, and the more games we all get in the end.  Who's to say that titles like this aren't worth the risk for Nintendo?

I'm not convinced that this isn't just some ploy by Nintendo. They'll say, "Zelda Wii U! Christmas 2015! What? That's too late for you? You had Hyrule Warriors! What? You wanted Majora's MAsk 3D? Why didn't you say so sooner!"

Seriously, I would not at all feel surprised if Nintendo made this an excuse to release Zelda Wii U reallly late.

The problem is that this HW spinoff will be very low quality... Tecmo isn't Nintendo. And the fact that the game is made by Tecmo, is not an excuse to make this poorly game. Link's Crossbow Training wasn't nothing special, but at least I didn't feel ashamed seeing Link's face and the overall design. Zelda is a prestigious saga, Dynasty Warriors simply no...

Is it the end of the world? No. But that doesn't changue the fact that for me, seeing Link making overpowered anime movements is disturbing and sad =(

Uhm... Nintendo has told us repeatedly that Zelda Wii U is going to take a long time.  It's not really news that it won't be out this Christmas.  They haven't announced a single thing about it, and it's supposedly going to be a huge game.  I'm sorry that their entire focus isn't toward making this one game for you, but instead trying to keep their profits up by working on other games and series.

Like LTM says, I believe it was Tecmo who approached Nintendo with this idea. Because I believe this is a start of a series of Dynasty Warrior cameos. Like I mentioned in my last post, I wouldn't be too surprised that they would approach SquareEnix to make a Final Fantasy 13 featuring Lighting version of Dynasty Warrior.

It would seem to suggest so by the wise sages behind Wikipedia. Jk But what is true is that this isn't the first crossover that Dynasty Warriors has done.

It's always nice how further research opens up to new point of views. I wouldn't even call this a spin off, it is pure cameo.

But I'd like to add a note towards the ones saying "people need to realize that this is not a Nintendo game. I believe that everybody who posted in this topic has already confirmed that they know that tecmo is building the game. I believe the argument is being made knowing that this is made by third party.

Either way, I don't see this as bad, especially not bad for the Dynasty Warriors series, but I don't see myself ever owning it.

Link made some of these moves in The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Your argument is invalid.

Is it a joke, right? xD You can't be serious... there is an obvious big difference...
The art direction of this game is simply unacceptable. It's a flaw from the Dynasty Warriors series in general. The Dodongo from OOT is a big lol.

No, I am serious. You're the one who isn't being serious. You're just trying to nitpick every singe thing "wrong" in the trailer, when in reality they're only wrong in your eyes because you don't like the general idea of the game. You need to stop pushing your views and hate onto everyone else in the thread.

We understand that you do not like the game. But you don't need to keep on making everyone else feel bad about liking it because you keep pushing down on what the game features and what it is like. Just stop posting your negativity.

EDIT: Fixed a date.

You can hold off on the conspiracy theories. :P You realize that it's only been 2 years since Skyward Sword, right?  It took 4 years for Twilight Princess to come out, and 5 years for Skyward Sword.  Ocarina of Time took 7 years.  We're way too early to accuse Nintendo of throwing in 3rd party titles to hide the fact that their games are taking a long time. :P Zelda games always take a long time.

Is Nintendo using this to hold fans over until the next Zelda game?  Maybe.  As said before, Nintendo already admitted to doing so with Wind Waker HD.  But accusing Nintendo of using a game like this as an excuse for the Wii U Zelda title taking longer than required is... a little presumptuous.

True, but I'm rather paranoid. And I like conspiracy theories. :P

Jared, in Air Luigi's defense, I thought you were joking too.

And I would like to say, before this thread explodes, that I think the game looks pretty good. I'll enjoy playing it if I can.

Goodbye.

What I find hilarious about this thread is that people aren't allowed to say they don't like the concept.  If you aren't positive about the game, why are you posting in this thread?  That's the vibe the majority of the pro-HW posts are emitting.  Both positive and negative views both belong here.  If seeing the negative views is bringing down your hype for the game, that's your own problem.  You shouldn't let what others think about something you like make you not like it, unless of course said thing is illegal or immoral, of which this is neither.

So as for the game itself, like I said I don't think it's going to be a bad game, but definitely not something that's going to be extravagant either.  It looks like a standard button masher, just with Zelda characters.  If you're into that sort of thing, just make plans to get the game.  If not, well there's always the next true Zelda title.
