went a little nutty. if the demo is 9%, this thing is now at about 16%. another demo should be soon. I'm torn between explaining what we've done and leaving some wonder intact. for now: I am exploring an aspect I have not messed with before and a lot of progress was made yesterday and today.

Stick Quest 2600?

What about the use of the word "Line". I don't like stick so I personally prefer Quest or Game. I like the 2600. This game is pretty amazing.

I'm pretty sure I won't call it Stick Zelda, even if that is what other people will call it. it isn't holding much from the Zelda universe. it does have peahats, for now, though. as far as my terrible poll, this is the previous tally:

18%. work is still being done and some of it is somewhat nifty. still seeking opinions on names. y'all haven't seen the stones, though... maybe "Stoned." ah! I'm totally giving it away, so if you don't want to know stuff, it is time to stop reading this. the dude throws stones. that concept has been fairly well executed and has allowed me to swap a couple of items, making one animate like it should have for the original game. it's awesome. there is some bling to this thing. I wish I could say it is time for the next demo, but I can type that we plan to work on this multiple times over the next 30 hours. if we finish the forest of bees and set up the valley after it, it may then be ready enough to share again.

we did work on it, but the boss area isn't complete, so neither is a new demo. it sits at 19% and twenty ought to do it. soon, I hope.

This is an interesting concept for a quest. It shouldn't be hard to draw dungeon graphics for something like this. I will give it a try and post the results in this topic should you need any dungeon tiles. Don't worry, because I only work on things that interest me (that means the graphics will be original and inspired.) Maybe the graphics will inspire you as well?

Never upload files to Filedropper. They can and will delete them on a whim. The site I use to host my custom sound effects is trustworthy, though. The link to the topic where you can find the links to my custom sound effects is in my signature. Come look though the topic and post comments in it. I made the mistake of having Filedropper host my sound effects a few times, so check out the most recent links to my custom sound effects in my topic.

cool! we don't intend to have any dungeons in this quest, but if you would like to make a tileset out of what we have so far (or what we will have when the next demo gets uploaded to anywhere except filedropper) and whatever creations you come up with, that'd be neat.

I was searching for another post to quote from, but it seems to have been lost to a recent site crash and reload from an archive that didn't include it. the point of the quote I was seeking is that all of my works are free to be ripped from, altered or plain stolen. thus, do what you do. I'd be glad to have this quest turned into a tileset with any additions you like to make, but I think that should wait until the quest is complete, as there are many more tiles to yet be made. show us what you have when you have it, please!

Well, now you know why I need someone like Lightwulf to help me with graphics I make for the classic set. If these tiles were in the RPG perspective instead, would they be better? To be honest, I prefer the RPG perspective, and I have methods to make the doors visible in all four directions.

You know, I said they look awful, and in any other set they would, but now that I think about it, those tiles would probably fit trudatman's stick Zelda set perfectly.

On the subject of shading, here, have a random tutorial I googled searched up.

And have another tutorial that includes dithering which can be important when working with limited palettes.

Porn wasn't why he was banned. It was just the last straw.

And anyway why should that mean this project is dead? Maybe tru would be willing to work on it and finish it even without the forums? It's not like we "turned our back on him", that's not what a ban even means. All it is is his way of socializing disagrees with ours; he may get along very well in some other web community, it just happens that here isn't that place.

For all we know he could be more active at AGN from now on and continue to work on this quest on a quieter scale. I'd be disappointed if the ban cancelled this quest, even though I was only mildly interested in it.

this thing is very much not canceled. there was a very recent demo update and I've already found a bunch of stuff that needed changing, so expect another that will basically fix some stuff in the very near future. tested it in 2.50(3) yesterday and found it to be even quirkier, but still functional. I intend to keep it relatively compatible with the newest builds. I have been working on this slowly but steadily. I very much want to know what isn't working for you. please try it and respond in whatever manner you feel is appropriate. thanks.

Good to have you back. It seemed like you would be gone forever. If you ever find a use for the dungeon tiles I made for your quest, they are below.
Here they are again.
If you make a tileset out of the graphics in this quest, you can put them in there. Just be sure to give me credit.
