I do have to agree that it's better than Episode I so far minus the Oil Desert Zone, so I agree with you, Kurt. It's fun, not as fun as some of the better Sonic games. The music's soundfont quality is vastly increased from Episode I, but the music itself seems to fall short in places; the only real standout tracks so far are Sylvania Castle Act 3, the Metal Sonic boss music, and White Park Act 2, but then only because it has a portion of Twinkle Park in it. Episode I had way better music, even if the soundfont quality was kind of not good.
The effects are pretty nice in Episode 2 though, the level design is improved, and the boss fights are awesome; that first Metal Sonic fight was nothing short of epic. And I loved the fakeout pulled with the first Eggman boss. The physics aren't perfect but much improved from Episode I, as well. It's more challenging than I, but that's probably to be expected since it's the next part in the series.
In short, it's worth playing, don't expect a revolution in the Sonic series, but it's fun. Now I'm kind of wondering if, once they're done with Sonic 4, they'll release the whole thing on one package. Which would be kind of a dirty trick if they did, but somehow I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

I honestly only liked White Park because it had that Twinkle Park bit in the music. The very first time I played that level, I found myself humming along to the music just a few seconds into it, and it took me a while to figure out how I was able to sing along to a song I hadn't ever heard before, and why the tune started to sound familiar.
Metal Sonic was unbelievably unfair with the coaster-destroying attack (I'm playing Beta 8. I downloaded it a while back, but never got around to it until now, and the lack of any changes to the retail version never got me wanting to swap up. I'm pretty sure they didn't nerf that part of the fight, though.), but it was still my favorite battle in the game.
Also, I liked the first boss for that same reason, I just wish I hadn't watched a YouTube video on it, and spoiled it for myself. (Same reason I didn't bring it up earlier.) I just wish that they'd have the head duck down more often so you weren't forced to use Tails so much.
No, if they're smart, they'll at least wait until Episode 3 before doing something like that. If the level design and engine has improved this much, then E3 should be even better. (Probably just deluding myself, though) Besides, there's still a couple loose ends they can wrap up. For one thing, on another forum, somebody brought up that just because the Death Egg got wrecked again, doesn't mean the Little Planet is freed. I'd kind of like a revisit to some of the Sonic CD themes, and seeing the possibilities of having the Time Stones and Chaos Emeralds together. Plus, there hasn't been a real "Doomsday"-esque Zone yet. You've got to have one of those. (Just realized, the Time Stones could also possibly explain why E1's bosses were all rehashes of old encounters, but then we might be going too close to Generations' storyline.)

I think I might go pick this up today... *looks at download size*
um scratch that I'll wait till I Bum some high-speed off my friends. I'm sure the Episode 2 can't be that bad. it sounds like they fixed some of the problems they had with the first one (Which I hated...Soooooo bad. that was the worst Sonic game I've ever played)

This place is basically where the game's difficulty hits the first major spike. About halfway through the level, you encounter a boss fight against a pair of Shrouds. These guys fire off Danmaku-style attacks (in a platformer game, no less!), and are programmed so that one of them shoots while the other one tries to chase you into the bullets with on-contact status effects. They're really hard to fight, and after you beat them the first time, will randomly appear in every single room you enter for the rest of the game...
Did I ever mention this game is really freaking hard?

Blue Shift was like a short mini-game, but Opposing Force is much more
fully formed, and it includes new weapons and enemies not seen in Half-Life!

And so far I'm still working on side quest... I've read in this one walkthough that the game has 480 sidequest 0_0,
NOTE: I've only look at the walkthough once, to see how to beat a boss. (I like playing though game's one time without one the second run though is with a walkthough)

Also, Disgaea 3 is a great game in my opinion. There was plenty to do and it was fun, though I found it kinda easy by the end. :S

ive been playing diablo 3 a bit but im only up to half way through act 3 and my character is level 24.
Whoah. I'm just crossing the bridge out of the fortress in the same act, and I'm halfway through (character) level 28, with like 450 Dexterity on my Demon Huntress. That whole act was amazing so far. So tense... I can't believe demons actually get all up in the safe zone and all.. Right near your stash, yo.
