Man, the Fetid Baghnakhs from Crimson Mimics just tear through the Destroyer and Plantera. I'm glad, because I had so much trouble with the Destroyer until I tried this.

From my expert mode playthrough, the points that I (and the people who were playing on my open server at the time) had the most trouble was definitely at Skeletron (the original!), Plantera and Duke Fishron. The final boss was not nearly as hard as expected and is ultimately an attrition war that will eat up about 2000+ Chlorophite Bullets. Most of the regular mobs, despite dealing extremely high damage weren't noteworthy given how abusable most of their AI is, although there's a special place reserved in hell for the Solar Pillar enemy group.
A little late, but I'm potentially interested. Normal or Expert world? So what is the interest level in a server right now? I started one today, but it's only got a couple people from IRC on it for now. I couldn't get Steam integration to work, so it would just be posting an IP address and password in here.

Normal world. I've left the server up, even if I'm not there.

I did not know what would happen next, however. I ride the rails back home from the last pillar, and by the time I get to the middle of the map where my arena is, a Solar Eclipse starts AND the final boss flashes into view. I strategically fill my pantaloons in shock and assess the situation, and quickly realize that I do not have a ranged weapon. I cannot hit any of the boss's weak points with my Fetid slashything. (Which really is an outstandingly phenomenal weapon. It reminds me of a very short Crissaegrim a little bit.)
So I am trying to dodge any and all attacks as best as my little feet can, all the while seeing just how far I can jump to attack a weapon point. None at all, it seems, is the extent of my abilities to do the boss harm as it stands.
But I'm also fending off Solar Eclipse enemies. A butcher attacks me and I slash him to bits while dodging missiles and moons from this gigantic horror of a boss. But I am still at a loss as how to do damage to it.
Then some poor hapless solar eclipse monster drops my salvation: The Eye of Cthulhu yoyo! A weapon category that I seem to have taken a vague disliking to. It was the one and only thing that I could deal damage with.
Five minutes of a battle later and I emerge victorious, riding home on my cheap monorail with a smelly glowing bag in my hand.
Yay.

Anyway, I'm up to the part of the game where I'm tackling the achievements. The majority of the achievements I have yet to earn are related to fishing. I really wish we could do more than one fishing quest a day.
I've reserved a lot of the unique fish that you can catch. You can hold a maximum of two in your inventory at a time if you put one on the ground, fish up another one, hold the new fish on the cursor before putting it in the inventory, then walk over the fish that you dropped, effectively forcing it into your inventory, and then put the cursor-fish down.
You can hold more than that if you drop them into a piggy bank though. It's not a problem. That Money Trough item is a godsend, seriously. It has never left my hotbar since I got it. Best new item of 1.3, haha, yes.
So I have a chest full of unique quest-fish, but can only give one in once a day. Also I can't seem to find that fungal fish from the underground Mushroom Biome. I don't think it's gotten on a mushroom biome on the surface either.

Found a really nice video series where someone is playing through at the moment and he's gotten past Expert Mode EoC, BoC, Queen Bee and Skeletron, all with no more than 200 HP and deathless. Seriously, he's probably on the same level of skill as Yrimir and is more or less the Y1oh of Terraria. Now I almost have to put on my big boy pants and play Expert Mode and go back to the days when the bosses were actually a threat, not like they were in 1.2.4.1 where with a bit of skill you could easily beat EoW with only 100 HP, an Iron Bow and some Unholy Arrows / Grenades. I want to actually die for once and be pushed to achieve a greater level of skill than I ever had before.

Well, I beat the Moon lord and have full solar armour. I also got ambushed by some martians and got "The Cosmic Car Key", which summons a neato spaceship mount. Terraria 1.3 is super fun so far, but now it's time for expert mode ![]()

So, I found a bug!

If the door is open, you can hammer the block. If a door is closed, however, you can't hammer the block!

They also fixed the infinite chest glitch, so if you want to earn money for reforges, now you have to do it the old fashioned and tedious way. *Crystal Farm sells*

@Koh: I tend to find mass killing Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu really good and easy money. I think about 7-8 gold per kill, and very easy to make their summoning items. Not to mention once you're at early Hardmode tier, you can easily kill either of them without trying and if you're at post Golem tier equips, it's a complete joke, especially with some of the ungodly overpowered 1.3 items. Just get Battle Potions / Water Candles and mass farm the items needed. I also seem to make a killing off a Black Recluse cave as well, since I seem to get a lot of Poison Staves off them. Don't forget Pirate Invasions as well; if you have a good setup, you can just AFK with zero fear of retaliation. Lastly, having a nice farm at either edge of the world to draw in Jellyfish, Squids and Sharks is a great way to make money, mostly through Jellyfish necklaces. Obviously, with the above, Battle Potion and Water Candle give the best results.
Of course, if you have no shame and being a bit of a cheater, you could always ALT F4 out of the game if you end up spending too much on reforges. Lastly, I suppose you could also use the Slime Staff, several minion number boosting items with the Lucky Coin and have them damage Pirates in an invasion. You probably will only hit 1-2 damage a hit, but that's needed to maximize coin gains. Takes forever to kill them, but you'll be really rich when it's all said and done.

So, I decided to make a small, random ass tip list as I have found some stuff. I'll update this as I find more!
WARNING:
THIS POST PROBABLY CONTAINS SPOILERS SO IF YOU SOMEHOW DON'T KNOW THE STUFF, WELL YOU MIGHT KNOW NOW.
- When using the Sandgun for duplicating sand, shoot downwards directly at the ground, preferably in the air (such as on a platform, shooting through it), as it seems that the speed of the sand being fired is faster than shooting it at a wall or something, and it falling then.
- If you're building a garden for herbs and stuff (daybloom, waterleaf, fireblossom, etc), it helps to use a rather dark background so you can see where you have placed seeds that are growing. Screenshot demonstrating what I mean:

- Keep extra accessories that you need as often in the vanity slot. Then you could swap them out with one of your less useful accessories when you need to use it, easily.
- Kinda obvious, but keep a piggy bank with you whenever you can so you can store your coins and extra items and stuff. Not so obvious is that you should also bring either 2 wooden platforms or a work bench, as you can't put piggy banks on normal blocks (dirt, stone, wood, etc).
4.a. Also try to deposit your coins into the piggy bank whenever possible, as not only does it protect them from you dieing, when you are in NPC's Trading GUI's, you can access however much money you have in your Piggybank.
- Bricks look cool.
- Snow Bricks (seem) to count towards a snow biome, so if you need one, you could make it out of snow bricks. I assume this works for ice bricks, too.
- Make a skybridge out of dirt, and use it as a tree farm. If you need a way to travel fast on it, just below it, make a platform of frozen slime bricks, or asphalt (or both).
- Do not underestimate the usefulness of Molotov Cocktails or Bone Javelins. Molotov Cocktails do cost pink gel, however, which may be hard to get as the slime that drops it is kinda rare. Bone Javelins require Sturdy Fossils, which you can get form putting Desert Fossils in an Extractinator.
- It is cheaper to make Active Stone Blocks, than it is to buy actuators (Obviously the downside is that actuators work on most blocks), with wire costing 5 silver, while an actuator costs 10 silver.
9.a. (Credits to Nathaniel for this one) Carry some wire cutters with you once you're able to get them, while you're exploring underground. Especially for the dungeon and/or the Lihzard temple.
- If possible, put actuators/active stone blocks on the outside of NPC's houses, and wire them up to triggers of some kind, so than encase something like the Blood Moon or Goblin Invasion is happening, you can keep the enemies out of the NPC's houses.
- Try to keep torches with you whenever possible, and also try to keep a few glowsticks if you plan on being in water.
- Try to always keep atleast some kind of tool or weapon on you (Sword, Pickaxe, Axe, Hammer, Yoyo, etc) encase you run into some enemies.
Okay, I updated this post some, and also credits to Nathanial, which got me thinking about some more tips (and also added a tip).

Coolgamer's tips are very good. I have actually made use of #4 for a long time. Sometimes you know there are situations you will get into where the probability of death is high, such as fighting certain bosses. Best to piggy bank your coins before the start of such a situation. I have a habit of keeping a piggy bank and a work bench in the lower right corner of my inventory.
As an addition to tip #9, I often carry around wire cutters, once I can obtain them. To avoid springing traps you encounter, I just steal the wires. You might need them later, and it's 100% cheaper to steal them as you explore and do other things than it is to buy them. Exploration can often kill multiple birds with one stone. You just have to think steps ahead regarding things you eventually want to do. The dungeon and eventually the lihzard temple are wire goldmines!
As for the inventory quick slots, #1 for me tends to be a most favored weapon, as I have a habit of hitting 1 when I want to switch back to it. #2 for me is a pickaxe. #3 tends to be an axe or a hamaxe. I don't use hammers that often, so a standalone hammer is usually not in one of the quick slots, but can be swapped for an axe in a time of need. I tend to place swappable stuff in the second row, right below what I rotate it with, so a hammer would be right below an axe. Other sorts of weapons, such as bows, guns, magic, etc. tend to go in the slots that follow that. Then comes other useful tools, such as a bug net, wire cutter, etc. The last slot, at #0, is usually torches. If I need glowsticks, I will often put that in the #9 slot, being a related light source. Some of these slots are switched out (often around 5 through 9) if I am building something. Other inventory items that give information, such as time, number of monsters, etc., which don't need to be an accessory, I also tend to put somewhere in the second row, where they can fit. Rows 3 through 5 tend to be where most of the chaos lies.
On a final note, I have 63 out of 88 achievements. Clearly not all of them are obtainable on one world, but I will eventually get there. My world has corruption, so I still haven't defeated the Brain of Cthulhu, and you can probably guess that I have killed all but one type of slime. Two achievements total for that there.

So after reaching the endgame of 1.3, I deleted everything, AGAIN, for a fresh new start. This time, I'm in expert mode. I haven't gotten much done yet in terms of player progression, but I have replicated a really cool house I saw on the internet. I'm having wifi issues, so I can't post it from imgur. I'll come back later when I can!
