I'm sure a majority still prefers the GameCube controller for Smash. The PDP one looks very promising. My only gripe from first impressions is that gloss. When will companies understand that gloss will only look nice until it attracts dust and fingerprints? If it acts as a Wii Classic Controller, I can finally play Xenoblade the proper way and not use that crappy Classic Controller Pro or that god-awful Pro Controller U. That $99 Adapter Bundle for Smash only saves you $10. It's a good value I guess. Especially for me when I only own one GameCube controller.

Personally I think the PDP controllers are ugly and unnecessary, and the Classic Controller setup is a turnoff for me. Of course if that's your thing then it's cool, but I agree the glossiness is kind of meh.

Personally I feel the Nunchuck controls were the best, but I'm definitely gonna go for the bundle, since it'd be a nice thing to have and that controller is sexy. Also I imagine they'll utilize it for the eventual Gamecube Virtual Console, which honestly they'll kind of have to if they want Super Mario Sunshine to work right...

That was downright hilarious. :XD: As a lifelong Nintendo gamer, I've come to accept the strangeness of Nintendo characters and their worlds, even when they collide. But hearing Conan's perspective as a nongamer reawakened me to all the weirdness in the Nintendo universe. I love his innocence.

LOL This is gold.

Let's just place the word Nintendo over Iwata, and the word Sony over Reggie, and you have this year's E3 in a nutshell. They put up a good fight, but Nintendo was far than more prepared.

I don't know if this was said, but if the roster goes up to 40-50 characters, then that's gonna be one hell of an All Star mode. ;) Try beating that on Intense.

Kirby making it to the last match really excites me!  The Pink Ball looks way more promising in this smash.  xD

Smashboards released an impromptu collection of tier rankings based on the currently known character roster. Looks like my pick is already top-tier.

My pick is either Top or Mid. Definitely wanting to play as Greninja though, and of course like any other SSB game, will be playing as Link again :P

Personally, I'm kind of annoyed by the fact they're already putting together a tier list. I don't think there's been enough game play to produce such a thing, yet. People seem to assume that the CHARACTERS are the ones who played in the tournament, ignoring the skill of the players themselves. For example, people look at Zelda, and say she's awful because she lost early, when it seems to me she simply didn't get far enough to show what she's got.

I know it's a "preliminary tier list" and isn't meant to be a final thing, but it bugs me that they're trying to do this at all at such an early stage of the game, and that the list is based almost exclusively on how far the character made it in the tournament.

Edit: Looking over it, I did notice that some of the characters eliminated early still rank high on the list. However, I still think it's too early for a tier list. Actually, I kind of hate tier lists in general. Some people choose characters based off lists like these. Why not play the characters you love?

They're still working on balancing the characters, though; I'd say the best time to offer feedback is before it's too late to change things. And these are the fans they have to work hardest to please, the ones who'll complain about little details most of us won't even notice.
