Ah, well I kinda got tricked by the trees on the northern part, but hey, that lava area looks really cool!

I'm planning on entering MotM with this map, what do you guys suggest? I shared this map on here before, but this is my most up to date version. What do you guys think?

For the most part, I really like it, especially the way you worked the Zelda II map in so well. However, I have one complaint. That mountain on the left... it kinda really throws off the perspective. The town of Ruto is two combos higher than the North Palace, as you can see by going north through the woods. So then the mountain plateau directly south of Ruto should be slightly lower in elevation than the palace. Instead, it towers above it. A little bit of fudging with heights is fine, but here I think it's too much; it breaks the illusion of depth too much.

The perspective here is that Ruto is kinda slanted, as you notice part of the rock formation directly beside where you noted is also 3 tiles higher.

The worst thing about slants though is that the combos themselves are not slanted in any way, but very flat, so forcing that perspective in is probably not the best choice to make. I see what you are implying.

This quest will not feature the space-bar map, so it will go quite unnoticed in te game (the reason for no space bar map is that I use multiple maps for each area). Either way, I'll make some adjustments if I am to submit this to MotM.

Said it on Skype the other day but I'll say it again:

Looks really nice and gives me great nostalgia of ALTTP's Eastern Palace. To improve, make the floor blue to give it a more ALTTP feel.

Reminds me of ALBW... OK, OK, I will take my leave.

But first, let me say that this is one well designed map, but I agree with Eddy here. It's functional and pleasing to the eye, and you can't any better than that. Good stuff!

Wanted to share my progress. :)

Just completed Level 8 - here is the map of the dungeon. Ended up being quite a fun dungeon and just about the right difficulty for a Level 8.

Okay, here's hoping I put it in the proper thread this time...

zelda002_zps1cc5e355.png

I finally finished the town area of my side-quest. Well, I say finally finished, but I managed to get five more screens done about an hour after posting my in-progress map. Just now, it was just about three more of them until I was done. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although Firebird does seem to be missing a type of mountain tile. There aren't any left/right pointing versions of the elevation edge. (Look at the edge of the cliffs. See how they all point upwards? There's actually no tile to point that left or right.) It was a bit surprising, and I really hope that I'll be able to work around that.
