Just beat Portal 2, finally. I'm not gonna spoil anything, but I think the ending was the best possible ending they could have had to the game. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the first, somehow, but they had enough good new ideas and concepts to fill its longer playtime. icon_thumbsup.gif I'm gonna go around and try some other peoples' test chambers, maybe, too. Expect to see me post in the Portal 2 thread just down below this one soonish!

I didn't like the ending to Portal 2, if only because that means they probably won't make a Portal 3...

I had to delete Portal 2 from my computer due to hard drive issues, so I don't think I'm going to be doing any of the custom stuff anytime soon. Ah well, no big loss. I really preferred the humor and storyline over the actual level designs, with the sole exceptions of the "underneath Aperture" and Cave Johnson's testing chambers. A change of scenery like that really makes a difference, you know?

The game plays fairly well but is pretty clunky. Also that block puzzle in the first dungeon? WTF WAS HE THINKING? So boring and freaking annoying if you mess it up.

FINALLY beat Ghost Trick, and I think I may just have to give it the award for best video game plot, ever. I don't think I've ever gasped as loudly as I did during one of the many, many reveals that dotted the game's final chapter. I gotta hand it to Capcom: They can tell freaking amazing stories.

So now with that out of the way, I'm still playing Uprising (I blame the 360 unlockable treasure hunt items), and recently, I've been trying to finish up Megaman 10. The Block Master can go die in a horrible flaming car crash. Other than that, fun game.

But, seeing as Sonic 4 Episode 2 is released tomorrow, I think I know what I'm going to be playing soon.

I got the Circle Pad Pro today just to realize that I can't have CPP controls on the recticle in Kid Icarus: Uprising. icon_frown.gif However, I tried it for Resident Evil: Revelations and it plays a hell lot better. Robin was right about what she said about the CPP controls in this game.

I'm back to playing Xenoblade as well. I got really far into it. This might be the best JRPG of this generation.

I've been also playing some random PS3 games. I got so many that's hard to pick which one I should focus on.

I'm not THAT far into Xenoblade. I'm on the part where Shulk sees a vision of Prison Tower and when Dunban joins after beating the Colony 6 Ether Mines (man that dungeon took forever). I'll definitely go deeper into this game. That vision of Prison Tower lef me questioned about a certain character in the game.

Been playing Sonic 4: Episode 2. It's actually fairly good. Not Genesis-good, but decent. I really wish you could keep more momentum when rolling down slopes, and that the whole Tails team-attacks weren't forced on the player, but other than that, it's a fairly enjoyable game. I've finally gotten to Sky Fortress (Re-imagining of Sky Chase and Wing Fortress), where you ride atop the Tornado a-la Sky Chase and chase down Eggman while Metal Sonic is playing defense with his own miniature airship.

Another thing I wanted to bring up that's kind of funny. A ROM site I like to go to that specializes especially on classic games does a daily "Retro Game of the Day" feature, where they talk at length about a particular classic game that's supposedly very good, and give a direct link to it rather than having to search the database. Apparently, with how many people now own either a 360, PS3, or Wii (and Wii U by the end of the year), the PS2 is now considered "Retro". I actually own Kingdom Hearts 2, and it was the "Retro Game of the Day" yesterday...

I feel old now...

Oh, I still have a bunch of old systems. I've even got an ancient NES console (not my original one, the librarian at the middle school I used to go to found it in a closet at school when everything was being moved to a new building, and was going to throw it out. I happened to be there and said that I'd happily take it. My original one got given away when I was little, against my will. I had about 35 games for it. Now I have 3). I know and accept those as old consoles. My PS2 is the newest system I personally own (not including the family Wii), and I still play it on a regular basis. That's what got me feeling odd when I saw it on the Retro page. (Also, I never did under stand that "20 is the new 30" thing, and I'm 21. Only difference I feel is that I can get horrifyingly drunk without the police flipping out. Not that I've ever actually gotten drunk, but at least I now have the choice.)

By the way, I'm going to warn anybody who's still got the leaked beta of S4:E2 and is planning on buying the released version: Don't bother. If your beta still works, just play that. The ONLY difference is that a couple un-noticeable lighting effects got fixed. Super Sonic still has Episode 1 physics, and the red rings still don't do or unlock anything at all. You would think that after the leak, SEGA would be trying to fix as much as they could to encourage people who got a hold of Beta 8 to buy the finished game. They didn't.

Oh I meant to me being 20 makes me feel like I'm 30...(Its kinda a dumb way to say I feel old. and like my life is half way over.)
So basically I feel quite old. 20 years of life is quite a long time.

And not to go off topic,

So Kurt How's Sonic 4 EP 2? And what is it available on?.

EDIT: Sorry man, you asked me about a Sonic game, you just opened freakin' Pandora's Box... "Wall o' Text" time!
----------
Well, the game's available on Steam, 360, and PS3. If you get the PC version, you better memorize what buttons correspond to the 360 controls, because there is no in-game setting to change them or even to double-check. Every tutorial in the game relies on the 360 layout to get the point across.

The main gimmick in the game is the fact the Tails is traveling with you like in Sonic 2. However, this time has the interaction between Sonic and Tails mandatory in the level design. Pressing the team-action button will grant you various abilities in different situations. For instance, the in-air team-action is having Tails grab Sonic and fly, like you could do in Sonic 3. The in-water team-action is the same, except Tails will not get tired as long as your underwater. The on-land team-action is to have Sonic and Tails assume a 69 formation (looks as homoerotic as it sounds), and perform a more powerful spin dash. Because this double-spin dash is so overused, and the momentum is still not right, you're actually being constantly motored forward to provide the "illusion" of forward momentum, rather than it being and initial thrust and actual momentum doing the job.

The four main acts consist of: Sylvania Castle Zone (A blend of elements from Aquatic Ruin and Marble Garden), Oil Desert (A blend of elements from Sandopolis and Oil Ocean), White Park (A blend of Ice Cap and a generic amusement park wooden roller coaster), and Sky Fortress (Re-imagining of Sky Chase and Wing Fortress). After completing all four Zones, you're given access to the Death Egg for the final set of levels and boss fight.

Special Stages are pretty much just a modernized version of the ones from Sonic 2. The only functional difference is that there are now electric bombs, as well as the normal ring-depleting bombs, that simply slow down Sonic without depleting Rings. Other than that, it's the typical forward-running half pipe while collecting an arbitrary number of Rings at predefined checkpoints. (Honestly, would Blue Sphere have been too much to ask!?) You access these Special Stages identically to Sonic 1, collecting 50 Rings and jumping into the giant Ring at the end of each Act.

Each Act also contains 1 Red Ring. Unlike Sonic Generations, collecting these rings do absolutely nothing. You don't unlock any bonus material directly, they simply add up towards the achievements you can achieve like in any Steam game.

Now for the positive parts of the game.

The level design has been greatly improved since S4:E1. You have more exploration, and the Homing Attack isn't required to be spammed quite so much. While you do have the new team-actions being spammed and in your face constantly, the levels themselves aren't entirely bad. (Except Oil Desert. Dimps went with the old 1-path, hold-right-and-look-pretty standby they went with in all the Sonic Rush games)

The storyline tries to tie Sonic CD into the plot, but fails. On the bright side, you do get a more badass Metal Sonic harassing you throughout the game. (High-speed boss fight atop a roller coaster in White Park, extended dogfight in the skies in Sky Fortress, dual-boss battle in Death Egg alongside Dr. Eggman) It mentions Sonic CD in the unlockable "Episode Metal" (requires S4:E1 save file from the same system as S4:E2, so people who played the first game on Wii are out of luck), but other than that, it doesn't really give the feeling of an epic, or even interesting story. It just feels like an excuse to bring back Metal Sonic.

Basically, the game is better than the Sonic Rush games, but worse than the Classic portions of Sonic Generations and the Genesis Sonic games. If you still think that falls within the "fun" range for the series, then by all means, give it a go. If you think your standards will be too high, then you're most likely right and should avoid this game.

I have been playing a bit more of Paper Mario recently.
Right now, I have just obtained the Ultra Boots (past Chapter 6) and beginning to play with Tornado Jump. Too bad they couldn't allow Mario to move while he is spining up in the air icon_frown.gif. With a little time to catch up with the sidequests to gather enough Star Pieces for the Power Plus badge Merlow has on offer, I will be onto Chapter 7 and to clobber the Crystal King.
I repeat, TTYD is a much better game than the orignal.
