I pre-ordered Skyward Sword back before it was even titled... I guess it was around Spring 2010... and I put $5 down on it, the normal pre-order price (about 10% of the release price). And, the other day, I changed my pre-order from the normal Skyward Sword to the Skyward Sword bundle, and they told me I didn't have to put any more money down on it (which I was surprised at-- I thought I'd have to put at least $5 more on it). Now I'm wondering if maybe my Gamestop is doing the same thing as linktopower's is-- taking the Wiimote+ out of the box and selling it for regular price. I'm going to pay my Gamestop a visit soon...

Oh, Gamestop. Now I'm left to wonder...

I have a printed receipt that says I ordered the bundle. They can't argue with that.

The whole Steam idea isn't bad, but then again, they're sort of already doing that with Virtual Console in a sense, although the Wii has such horrible memory space that you could hardly get any. Consoles would need to have much more space to compensate for the gamer who wants to basically get everything, and games aren't getting any smaller.

Amazon is generally where I buy games now. I can't remember the last time I bought one in a store, and, mercifully, I can't remember ever buying one from GameStop. I've also never traded any games in. As a result, my life is at least 120% happier.

It's funny, because GameStop's policy is actually not to charge people to pre order at all... so I don't understand why they wanted 5 bucks to begin with.

I have a Best Buy gift card. There is a preorder available for the remote bundle. There is an option for "in-store pickup," but I can't select it. I called the customer service line, and they said that the option may appear closer to release.
Nintendo, regardless of what happens, I'm counting on you not to run out of those bundles in the first few days.
Also, thanks Prospekt, for finding the Best Buy page for preordering the Wii remote bundle.

It's really only Nintendo who's failing in this regard. I have yet to fill up my Xbox or PS3
Well, I mean if it were like a computer where the game wasn't stored on a CD or whatever, you know? Like, it would be a different story if all console games just stored the entire game on the console and you browsed it like your Steam library.

Pre order 'price' doesn't raise itself depending on the price of the product.

Really? Huh. Well, my Gamestop is just plain different, I guess. Say, if I want to pre-order a DS or Wii game, I have to pay $5 down. When I wanted to pre-order my Wii way back in the day, I had to put $25 down, otherwise I couldn't pre-order it. I do live in America, if that makes any difference.
Also, I talked to one of the main guys at my Gamestop and he said that the bundle comes with the Wii Remote. I plan on going back when the manager is in just to make sure, but I have quite a bit of trust in the respectable worker I already asked.

Anyway, it shouldn't really matter that you live in America, the stores over here follow the same policy, I mean, it's run by the same people anyway.
Edit: It's not impossible that the employees made that change by themselves, to earn a little extra. I don't know, but it doesn't really matter anyway, seeing as your money pays off a slight bit of the product anyway, right? Or is it a stand-alone price?

A console is different than a game
Say, if I want to pre-order a DS or Wii game, I have to pay $5 down.
Doesn't change that he still had to put 5$ down for a game.
The EBGames I go to (which is essentially the exact same as GameStop from my understanding, considering whenever I try to go on an EBGames site, they redirect me to GameStop's site.) also requires people to put down 5$ to get a game preordered. And this wasn't just recently: it's been like that for a good while. I've also read around that other people need to do the same. So I think it may be something unique you your area. :3
I also go my preorder switched without a problem. :3
