Okay, my thoughts.
The characters I got to try were Link, Marth, and Little Mac.
Link: His dash attack is a jump attack and can now kill. Forward air is a little more powerful and seems to come out easier/quicker. The spin attack can actually kill now but leaves him vulnerable like in Brawl. Z-Air no longer auto cancels. Down aerial is now a meteor when it comes out. Up B now has better vertical momentum in the air.
Marth: He can no longer forward-air twice in one short hop. His neutral B move is still the Brawl stab. His moves now have a bit more reach.
Little Mac: Pretty much a glass canon. He is fast, powerful, and has a strong ground game, but his recovery is absolute garbage and he has no options to extend it. The punch meter drains with time and requires you to land hits to fill it. His side-b is a lunge where he jumps over projectiles and punches, and his down-b is a counter. He also has a ton of super armor.
Gameplay:
You can no longer edge-hog as the person who is grabbing the ledge will just bump you off. Letting go of the ledge and re-grabbing it doesn't let you regain invincibility. Tether recoveries now no longer allow you to re grab after letting go of the ledge. Grab-release no longer works.
I didn't really get much time to toy with the game like I had hoped, but it was pretty smooth nonetheless. There are some pretty big nerfs though, but I need more time.

Do you think it's good? Does it feel kind of like playing melee on the moon? Do you think there is enough hitstun for combos?
Thanks for posting!

It feels nice and smooth, but it's more like Melee mixed with Brawl. It's not as slow as Brawl, but it's not as fast as Melee. There is enough hitstun for combos now. It's more like Smash 64 was in terms of combo ability and floatyness. (without the zero-to-death stuff lol)

I'm sure it'll be like a month before the Smash community decides the game is trash because it isn't Melee, that's what you have to expect. ![]()

Anyway, the most important thing is Palutena. Like, sheesh, I am so freaking glad she's in, particularly because I knew people who were like, "Oh, she'd never work as a character in SSB!" (which was asinine because Uprising gave her infinite potential to be amazing in the first place) So yeah, I GET TO SMITE THOSE LOSERS.

Actually, the Melee scene likes it and acknowledges it as a good game for what it is. I should know. I was there with many of the guys in the SoVa Melee crew. ![]()

Thanks so much for the information Xenix. To be honest, I am hesitant about how I feel with no edge hogging, but this will seriously help out some characters who have terrible recoveries.

I think it covers a lot of good ground and explains things in a perfect way.

Does the game play well with the Pro Controller? Is the 2nd screen on the GamePad utilized in some way other than mimicking the TV screen? I'm sure a majority still prefers the GameCube controller for Smash. The PDP one looks very promising. My only gripe from first impressions is that gloss. When will companies understand that gloss will only look nice until it attracts dust and fingerprints? If it acts as a Wii Classic Controller, I can finally play Xenoblade the proper way and not use that crappy Classic Controller Pro or that god-awful Pro Controller U. That $99 Adapter Bundle for Smash only saves you $10. It's a good value I guess. Especially for me when I only own one GameCube controller.

The 3DS Version is announced to be released on October 3th this year, while Wii U version is gonna be released "winter 2014".
When the game was first announced I was concerned if they would have enough variety in characters (and stages), but now I'm not anymore. There's a whole lot of old and new characters. ![]()
Can't wait to fight against those of you, here on PZC, whu get the 3DS version. ;P
