I redid her face. What do you think? The left version has the highlight in the hair, and the right version doesn't.

It looks surprisingly good in my opinion. Keep the highlights in the hair. Would you mind sending me the Pokemon ones actually? I might have a play around with them see if I can make them more like my other NPCs. Looking good though.

Haven't worked much on that last screen yet, but I have tried working on the palette, so let's see how this works.

'obvious mockup is obvious...'

Better 1,
http://i142.photobuc...ya/zelda046.png
Or 2?
http://i142.photobuc...ya/zelda047.png

Or if neither of these looks good, what do I need to do here? Keep in mind, I am aiming for something aesthetically different than the norm.

Staff edit: Reduced your images to a link. They were too large.

The first one is better overall and there a few clashes here; the path tiles have too much contrast, with the first shot having less contrast. Going for the style I interpert, I'd tone down the creams on them just a little. Also, I'd suggest that you stick either having no black borders on any object or them on all. Judging on this shot, I assume that getting rid of the black lines of the sprites, rock and the GB blades of grass is a good direction. There is also an unneeded open corner and I'm not a fan of the mountains.

From Gale of Darkness. It looks as if Hal is trying out my improved bombs on that Darknut. In Gale of Darkness, unlike most quests, bombs are made much more versatile.

I don't like the double light-spots; I'd stick to just one around the torches. I'd also brighten up the palette, as I can barely make anything out. It looks like the screen design itself is really good though!

Looks great! I like the idea of having "sandfalls"; very creative! The one issue I'd like to point out is in the first shot; see how the way you have the far right mountain set up causes you to have a straight line of lava? Not very appealing. I also don't like the grayish-green cacti. If it's a problem with the palette, it shouldn't take very long to change it.

Purplemandown, those are amazing desert shots, even if I'm not a fan of desert areas!! Keep up the good work.

Aight, I'm trying to get some freeform dungeons going down. I'm using the classic set since I can. Anyways, here is my first freeform dungeon shot, it isn't out of a real dungeon, but it's just a shot.

IPB Image

I tried to get in the pillar effect for those two pillars, obviously it doesn't have much detail. This is my first attempt at freeform dungeons, I'm mainly aiming for the pillars I think, does it look any good? It's basic, but I've said this already okay critisize it now

well, i think that screen is quite empty, i mean, there is really nothing in it besides the stair and lock-blocks.

Also, if you allow me to say, there is an open corner... please dont kill me.. icon_sorry.gif

One question I've been wanting to ask for a while: Why don't you make the "outside lighting" coming in through the door transparent? o.O It looks very weird how it is right now, though I like the idea of having light come in through the windows as well. I think it could use more windows on the sides as well (I mean, unless it's in a cave or something, in which case that wouldn't make much sense), but yeah.

Other than that, it's a really solid screen, though the Pokemon NPC looks horribly out of place, and the dog's lack of outlines clashes with Link. So does the table, and some of the other tiles in it, but that's tilesets for you... I guess I'm just spoiled with having a custom tileset where everything is made in the same style XD

But yeah, solid and awesome screendesign! icon_thumbsup.gif

Now that's more like it! That's a great screen! I mean, it's not perfect, but it's a ton of progress from your screen in the last SOTW.

Ironfist, that is leagues beyond your last shot. Looks really good.

Sorry for the largeness, but I've been too lazy to do stuff with DMaps or continue points yet, among other things, so it's another shot from ZQuest icon_sorry.gif

This is just a shot from a new project of mine. I am liking the way things are turning out, although even as I write this I see things to tweak on this screen. Anyway, hope you like it.

I should probably go work on my DMaps so I can show you in game next time...

Edit: Put into link form to save space and also remembered I should tell you what it is.

The area is supposed to be a ruin thats been overgrown with shrubs and other plants. It's supposed to be an alternative to making a boring old forest, but it still has some trees.

I LOVE IT !

Your screens are always awesome, HK, whatever you are doing, dont stop.

The only thing is that the candles C-set clashes with the rest of the screen for being so brightly coloured.I would try some other C-set for it.
