Its different for those of us who've been social outcasts. While for most people parties are fun, others, like myself, find parties to be a nuisance, an event of social awkwardness, and complete and utter self-pity.

I can't be in a party setting, I have phobias of large crowds and loud noise(read:music), so its not something I'm fond of.

I understand, but I also don't, so I guess I'll just leave it at that.

I find it difficult to interact with people I'm not very aquainted with, so that's mainly why I don't go to them. I'm not very good at it. icon_xd.gif

Just swallow the thought of not knowing them and pretend like it never existed.

Genuinely pretend.

I promise you, it works.

It seriously does. It also works fairly well for public speaking, as long as you know the content of your speech well, and enjoy what you're speaking about.

I just don't go to parties because I have genuine malevolence toward humanity. icon_shrug.gif

Meh, I can't really say I like parties. The only "parties" I like are parties where me and two friends (and our families) all go over to one of our houses and goof around for the day.

So today, my family went to eat at this great pancake place about half an hour away on top of a mountain. I drove. On the way, back, my dad suggested I take a "shortcut" home. This shortcut involved driving on a narrow, narrow, extremely narrow two lane road down the mountain past all sorts of cliffs and through dark woods. During dusk. In the middle of this road, right next to a cliff edge, there was a sign saying to watch for pedestrians crossing the road. Most out of place sign ever.

Parties are hit or miss for me. Depends on if I know anybody, and what kind of people are generally at it. I am not a fan of mainstream crowds where everybody looks the same and they tend to be shallow and lack cultural value. I tend to like more interesting people who typically are more tolerable and accepting of the differences in people. As for parties at clubs, I like it when there is a band playing, but I am not much for socializing at bars or clubs. Whether it is a band or previously recorded music, I have to talk to people over it, since it tends to be way too loud for me to even hear myself speak.

Tried that, then I had an anxiety attack at my ex's prom. icon_frown.gif
