Looks great! I'm not fond of how two different styled bushes are present on the same screen but all in all it looks great.

The palette looks nice! Defined colours easily make classic a lot more better. It looks a little more like a night palette though... maybe try something a bit more brighter? Personally I would give the grass a more yellow look to show there's sunlight present above the screen.

As for the screen itself? It looks nice! I can't say much but it does show off the palette rather well.

It is a nighttime palette, actually!

Try and get some darker greens somewhere in your palette (use csets 10/11 if they're not in use). ZC does transparencies by averaging(?) the layers and picking the closest colour from the 256 colour palette. By filling your palette with "correct" colours you can get better shadows, and also have a degree of control over them. You can even go in reverse if you want - decide on what colours you want in your shadowed areas then create "shadow overlay" colours that, when mixed with the ground, create the exact colours you want.

Also, he didn't say the grass was dull because it lacked shadows, he said it was dull because it's a very washed out, desaturated colour instead of a vibrant green. Of course there's nothing wrong with having a washed out palette if it fits the scene (e.g. an abandoned or haunted town, or anything depressing) but he felt the name "Decora" evoked a different mood to what's presented.

I'll have to experiment with that, since I didn't know that's how ZC functions. Hmmmmm. As for the shot as a whole, I might change the palette to make it more fitting to "Decora" since it does mean decoration. Thanks for your tips! :D

I agree about the shadows, but the screen as a whole is really promising. The color scheme reminds me of the SNES Star Ocean, for some reason.

You're missing a treetop on the bottom, but who really cares?

Thanks, and I didn't notice the tree missing till you told me!

those are shadows, eh? the ridges don't seem to be tall enough to cast such dark shadows. I'd just take them out. anyway, my point was there is a sharp edge to them and it looks bad, making the tiles obvious where most of them are not.

I see your point now. I'll try to fix it ;)

Hmmm...You're really close, close enough to give me an idea! One sec...

What if you used big blobby shadows like THIS, and used them on the cliffs like I showed? Would that look nice? I think it'd look more organic than 45-degree angles.

Oh wow, sexy shadows! :D I'll check these out when I get a chance to use ZQuest. You have been saving my back lately man! :D

Thanks! I'll see what I can do about them bushes ;)

I like the multiple types of bushes and the multiple types of trees.  if you are going for realism (which this set sure represents), then variety is good, as long as it is all believably fitting.  those bushes don't suffer style clash, so I like having them both.

Ok, since the village's name is "Decora" = decoration, I changed the palette to one from A Key to the Heavens (Credits to Joe123 and Migo of course). As of only, I have only changed the palette, I still have yet to put in the other's suggestions. So far, I like the change!:

DEM SEXY SCREENS OF SEXINESS!  :tard:

I like the realism you're going for in this tileset. May I ask what is it's name and when can I date her?

good stuff, Geoffrey.

the palette change... mostly a lateral move, but the colored trees are absurd.  you went from a realistic look to a cartoony with a quickness.  which style fits your quest?  I don't claim to know, but I prefer the old shots.

Good question... Well, Zelda is Zelda anyway  In all seriousness, I don't mind having a cartoony look, I'm actually quite fond of my change. In one sense, I did like the old shots as well, as it had like a more "serious" atmosphere, but I didn't it like it too much because of the music and atmosphere I wanted to give it. But anyway, I hope you like it anyway ;)

@Demonlink - No words can describe your screens, other than 'beautiful'. Well, I can't find any others anyways.

They make me miss using the LTTP mountains. I've been using the GB styled LTTP mountains for so long, I've forgotten how good they look when used correctly.

Those screens are for Ninja Llama, my would-be entry for the Two-Week Quest Contest which ended months ago.  It was to be a short quest, and so I may yet finish it.  If people in fact want the tileset, I will consider releasing it, but it won't be complete enough for a regular quest.

Thanks man! It took me months to learn how to use them. The good thing about the GB styled LTTP mts are that they don't use much space for the back side, unlike the normal ones as you have seen ;)
