love it. tree variation would put it over the top. is what I assume is a fog layer something still or mobile? if it moves, I'd go with moves pretty much in place. great minimap, duder. please keep us posted.

Actually, due to how the over layers work, those are transparent tree leafs which indicate that to the west is a forest ;) I'll try to work on it as much as I can this summer break! :D Oh, and thanks man! I appreciate comments like those :D

Credit goes to Linkus. I think these will look a lot cooler! But regardless of that, I can't wait to see more!

Today's progress on Decora Village. Showing off new posts I found somewhere in PZC. Thoughts?

It looks good, but the roads look weird without them being 2 tiles wide with the wooden posts. The grass is also very dull, for a town named Decora Village, which sounds like a town known for color and decoration.

Selhera Village is looking better than ever! those trees fit in well and can be the same tiles without looking like the same tiles. you have a rough transition between the shades of grass near the bottom left and I don't think the chimney matches the tileset very well.

Just fixed them wooden posts. As for the grass being dull, I might fix the ALTTP Shadows, Radien did the mistake of already adding the shadows to the standard SD3 grass, so that's in my "To do" list too. And thanks! :D

Selhera Village? *Remembers the village that had like 4 or 5 remakes*. Thanks! AS for the shadows, I believe you mean the ALTTP ones right? As said, I'll get to that because I don't like them already being implemented into the tile itself. (Especially since it's in the standard SD3 one). As for the chimney, I'll leave it as it is ;)

Well, tried to take the shadows out of the ALTTP mts and then just layer them like they should. Results? Not quite satisfying :/ :

As you notice, the shadows look pretty... awful. I might need to stick with the default ones instead of these new ones. (I have a copy of shadowless ALTTP mts if anybody is interested ;) )

Try and get some darker greens somewhere in your palette (use csets 10/11 if they're not in use). ZC does transparencies by averaging(?) the layers and picking the closest colour from the 256 colour palette. By filling your palette with "correct" colours you can get better shadows, and also have a degree of control over them. You can even go in reverse if you want - decide on what colours you want in your shadowed areas then create "shadow overlay" colours that, when mixed with the ground, create the exact colours you want.

Also, he didn't say the grass was dull because it lacked shadows, he said it was dull because it's a very washed out, desaturated colour instead of a vibrant green. Of course there's nothing wrong with having a washed out palette if it fits the scene (e.g. an abandoned or haunted town, or anything depressing) but he felt the name "Decora" evoked a different mood to what's presented.

The palette looks pretty good, I like how the mountains look and the water looks pretty pleasing to the eyes. Overall pretty nice palette!

I agree about the shadows, but the screen as a whole is really promising. The color scheme reminds me of the SNES Star Ocean, for some reason.

You're missing a treetop on the bottom, but who really cares?

those are shadows, eh? the ridges don't seem to be tall enough to cast such dark shadows. I'd just take them out. anyway, my point was there is a sharp edge to them and it looks bad, making the tiles obvious where most of them are not.

Hmmm...You're really close, close enough to give me an idea! One sec...

What if you used big blobby shadows like THIS, and used them on the cliffs like I showed? Would that look nice? I think it'd look more organic than 45-degree angles.
