Guys, where Muslims live is not the subject of the topic. Moving on.
Anyways, see, the difference is, the Muslim references in Zelda are associated with negative connotations. Many people have said "Nobody complained about the cross on the shield in the NES Zeldas!" Well, here's the difference: The cross is on the shield of the hero. And is meant to be a holy sign anyway, and many medieval shields bore crosses. Which was something Zelda was akin to in its early days: Medieval times. So obviously it would have some of those similarities. I mean, not that it doesn't still have medieval elements, but it focuses on an aspect somewhat different from that. I say "somewhat" because it very much
is a medieval setting, but different in a way. Hard to explain; hope you know what I mean.
Now the Islam symbols... Well, the fact that the Muslim chant was used in a dungeon where people were sacrificed to a dragon... I'd sorta be offended too, wouldn't you? And same for the symbol being applied to the warlike Gerudo tribe, whose leader wants to eradicate Hyrule and insert his own rule. Again, not sure I like that; it would be like using the Lord's Prayer and the cross.
But I digress, folks. This is just how I see it; maybe if the symbol were given to some nomadic, non-violent tribe and the chant was used... in somewhere that wasn't an evil dungeon, there wouldn't have been much complaining. Either way, Zelda is Zelda, and one song and one symbol won't change the franchise. ... well that depends on which song and symbol, but you know what I mean.
