I worked today from 8:30am to 8:30pm, like every Tuesday and Thursday until mid November rolls around.
As for gaming tournaments, I have never attended one.

On another topic, any of you attend local gaming tournaments of some sort?

I was going to attend one for Pokemon Platinum in Seattle, but I was played on an M3, which means I wouldn't be able to play with anybody who had a DSi. I don't think Nintendo would have appreciated that. icon_razz.gif But I still got close enough to the building to connect to the wi-fi and download the shiny Milotic they were giving away from it. icon_razz.gif

Tomorrow I'm helping host a game night for my honors program at the university. We're having a Guitar Hero, Halo 3, and SSBB tournament as long as enough people show up. I probably won't play much, but I'm really looking forward to scoping out more Brawl competition; back at home, none of my friends are big players, so I'm pretty quickly outclassed here. It's great! icon_biggrin.gif

That is awesome, Ebola...especially the SSBB one. I wish I could go...XD

I've added a new site to my repertoire of bookmarks...AllIsbrawl (that's where my quote in my sig is from XD). It's mainly a Brawl tournament site, where you can check for local tourneys near your area and how much it costs to participate. The community is...subpar at worst, decent at best, but the tourneys are fun, plus you meet a lot of people.

So I ended up placing second in the tournament. icon_biggrin.gif We only had 8 players, but that was enough to get a bracket going. I played Marth and fought a pretty good Captain Falcon first round, but ended up beating him solidly (although the Knee of Justice put up a pretty strong fight). I then played a Fox, which worried me at first but he had a mediocre ground game and nothing in the air- I ended up going perfect with no lives lost. The final round was against a great Meta Knight- he knew all the priority considerations for his moves and used the Tornado up-B like a pro. It also didn't help that I made a few dumb mistakes, like getting myself caught under the lip of the stage. icon_sweat.gif Overall, though, I played much better than I was expecting, and had some fun times with the casual matches against Team Suicide (Kirby + Bowser). icon_xd.gif

Not bad at all, Ebola. I dislike Meta Knights because they tend to be spammy...>_>...and they usually win DX
I'm entering a local tourney this Saturday, and will record matches and stuff for it. It's going to be awesome. icon_biggrin.gif

You know, I just love Civilization II, but I can't decide whether I like the official release or FreeCiv better....FreeCiv seems to be constantly languishing on the pit of death as far as activity goes, though....Which is a pity..It has potential....I'd see about contributing heavily to it when I learned C, but the license (GPL) turns me off.

I wonder if I'll like Civ IV as much?

Never heard of it.

Want to try Civ# eventually. I know a guy who managed to condense the entire game into a file less than a megabyte large. I seriously wish that I were kidding about this; I watched him unzip and install the game before my very eyes. He gave me a copy of it. I dunno if I still have it, (That'd be convenient, wouldn't it. icon_rolleyes.gif ) though I may.

Man. Tournaments. I haven't played Brawl since the DTV Transition. I've only played a tiny bit of Melee on the PC on the Dolphin GCN Emulator. (Yes, I own the game. What self-respecting Smasher wouldn't.)

I've been doing the "Unreal Tournament" thing lately, actually, with Bengal. It's far too much fun. The Flak Cannon's Alt-Fire is my cup of tea, coupled with the Stinger Minigun, (Whatever is in your cursor slowly dies. Awesome. icon_razz.gif ) and maybe the rocket launcher here or there. I generally hate the rocket launcher. It's very, very good, but very, very bad. Easily dodged, but if you fire it against the floor, or against places where people will be, ... well, it seems that nowadays that's all it's good for. But hey, people have gotta be somewhere! icon_blah.gif Also trying to train with the Sniper Rifle. Would be a great thing to learn.

@Alestance:
I'll try it. Not too sure how to play it, (looked it up a little bit, but not 100% sure how to play.) If you can give me the basics on how to play, I'll give it a go. icon_smile.gif

On an unrelated note, has anyone tried anything from Platine Dispositf? They make awesome games. Most notably, in my opinion, Bunny Must Die (I've mentioned this before in a thread in GE) and Hitogata Happa. (An awesome shmup.) (The site has most of their demos and a few full games that they released for free, like Starleaf Yo.) Also, Dandelion: Starchild Journey is pretty good too. Very different for a shmup.

I had a wild night last night. Partied till 3 AM and it was pretty awesome. I drank a little, dance a bit, and talked a lot. Fun fun.

So anybody been to parties lately?

I live in the middle of nowhere, so I can't party because I don't have any parties within driving/walking distance.

But I'm hosting a Christmas party this year, even though that doesn't count... but my house is very old and intricate, and is absolutely beautiful with the huge-ass tree my family buys every year.

I never go to parties... I mean, I live in my parents basement. What does that say? icon_razz.gif

On a more serious note, I don't really like going to them. I'd rather just stick with a close group of friends and hang-out someplace. Or at a friend's house playing games all day. icon_razz.gif

Honestly, in my opinion I think you're missing out.

Going to parties (especially the more classy ones) is an awesome experience. Meeting new people and just randomly making new friends is such a great joy, and parties make it easy. I have my friends who I will always want to have around, but I love meeting new people and having conversations with strangers. I literally knew nobody at that party except my brother. So much fun icon_smile.gif

How could you not like parties anyway? Wild unpredictable moments, games, lots of talking, music (albeit crappy most of the time icon_razz.gif). If we ever meet in real life I'll have to try to change your mind icon_razz.gif

Oh wow, and you live in Canada. I'll be moving there in about 2 years. Maybe we will meet icon_razz.gif
