Some really interesting maps here. My personal favourite is probably Level 6. Having multiple entrances to a dungeon is a pretty cool idea. Level 2's size seems fine IMO, it's not too big or too small.

But yeah, those are some pretty nice classic-style dungeons.

Thank you Eddy! I just went back to count the rooms in each dungeon and in order there are 23, 33, 20, 40, 32 and 20 rooms for levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 respectively. Four of level 4's rooms don't show on the mini-map though, but even then, it's still my largest dungeon in that quest. Thank god once you get the boss key you don't have to do 10 minutes of hellish backtracking if you die. The Adam no Bouken Tsu version is worse and better at the same time. Worse because you have to fight higher tier enemies (Fire Zols, Blue Wizzrobes, level 2 Vires) instead of Red/Blue Darknuts and Red Wizzrobes, but better in that you're better equipped in comparison.

Spoiler

I won't lie. If I actually had Link's Adventure X finished, I'm sure it would have been a decent NES style quest.

Remember the Forest Ruins from my Metroidvania quest demo back at the Expo? I remember complaints about it being too small and just being a "go in, get item, get out" area. (Still not complete, if you can't tell.)

How's it looking now? Any better? It's not too cramped now, is it? I like putting a lot of decoration on the individual screens, and it's supposed to feel labyrinthine.

Do the carpets that run into the walls hint invisible bombable walls? Otherwise, it looks nice!

No. There's only one bombable wall so far, and the hint there would be the giant massive crack in it. The carpets are just there for decoration, and the ones that looks more merged into the wall were leftover from when I was still experimenting with how to use the tiles I had ripped. The floor and walls are from a TurboGrafx game called "Neutopia", and the carpets are recolors from a Zelda game, although I can't remember which one. Either that, or something I got from another tileset already here and recolored.

That looks amazing, kurt.  I genuinely want to explore it.  Where did you get the tiles for those walls?

There's a Legend of Zelda clone made by Hudson for a system called the TurboGrafx16 or the PC Engine. (You can emulate it easily with the emulator "RetroArch" or "Mednafen"). The game itself is called "Neutopia". Between that game and the sequel "Neutopia II", I got the graphics for the floor and walls. A bit of looking online will get you the maps for the overworlds and dungeons, and since they're made from straight screen-rips, you can piece together a lot of nice enemy graphics as well. However, for things like cracked walls, you'll need to actually emulate the game and rip them yourself. I'd share the tiles I ripped, but they're rather disorganized, and I deleted the Paint image I made as reference.

Weird and off?  No; it looks all right.  Hah, hah, hah.

I recommend making the terrain more diverse.  At the moment, it seems monotonous.

Throwback Thursdays (even though it's not Thursday).

This map is almost 10 years old. The quest file, called Custom1.qst was made in 1.92 183, and last touched in September 2004. I was going through my old ZC stuff and found the quest, and took this map in 2.5. I've gotten a little better, I think :P

That map of yours is actually pretty good, but the ice mountain area looks kinda empty, like there's some floor detail that's lacking, but hey, you're new maps are way better :P

I've decided to show one of my maps of A Link to the Ice Age. It is unfinished right now, but gives you a rough idea of how it will be set up.

This never gets old XD

Anyway, the map itself looks pretty good, floor's kinda empty in some places, but it's still good.
