Um, it kind of did. TS only watched through episode 4, and he hated it. Thus, the cycle was broken, meaning you don't need to go after me. Plus, I can list a million other shows staring cartoon animals with more engrossing plots than this. Well, tentatively. Maybe I'll watch the first few, just so I can actually show you the verification of that list. Or maybe I'll just read a summary and pretend I watched them. Or maybe I won't so I can continue to spite you.
It didn't actually fail. Mainly because I didn't use that statement to convince him, he tried the show of his own accord. There is hope for you yet
The only person ever to leave this thread without watching the show is ChickenNugger, and he's banned so what does that tell you

It tells me that the forums could not contain the awesomeness within him an- *shot*
Although seriously, I can almost guarantee I won't like it, as the only shows like this that I enjoy are one with nostalgia. But I might try it. After I get my sanity tested.

If you set your expectations low and go in with an open mind, there's a good chance you'll absolutely love it. Unless, of course, you're deliberately trying not to enjoy it (which I can imagine you doing), in which case there's absolutely no point.

No, I'm not trying deliberately not to enjoy it, I'm just saying it's not aimed at my demographic, and I don't like shows like that in general. Plus, there's no way it can live up to the hype it has. You guys practically worship it. And it can't be that much better than everything else out there.
You think it's aimed at my demographic? You think I tend to like shows like that?
And also, there's a reason I told you to set your expectations low.

... ahem.
Gentlemen, enjoy your ponies. I'm gonna go back to my fat-yet-athletic Italian plumbers, boys in green tunics with swords and shields, anthropomorphic hedgehogs that roll around at the speed of sound, guys in giant robots that make drills with their sheer fighting spirit (while wearing epic shades), and greasy and heavenly and delicious fried pork skin. [/I love the way I fantasized each of the five objects on my list from page 32 to make them sound odd in comparison

But yeah, the trick with becoming an MLP fan has always been in that if you set your expectations low you'll find yourself oddly amused and mesmerized by the show, and hence the hype. It may not be all that, but considering it's My Little Pony, most people check it out expecting either a 22-minute tea party or an animated infomercial. And this is neither, so most people are like "WHAT IS THIS AND WHY AM I SORT OF ENJOYING IT?" And then you watch a few more episodes, and start to really enjoy it.

was...
wait for it...
Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I don't mean to be rude, but I really did hate it. It wasn't just childish, it was annoying. Like Spongebob's laugh multiplied by ten annoying. It was boring, predictable, but worst of all, it was just annoying. I had to take a break half way through and go outside. It just wasn't enjoyable, at all. How all this hype evolved is beyond me. And I can tell you, now that I tried it, I'm never watching it again. So please stop pestering me about it.

Okay, I'm not actually that hurt....no, that's a lie, I actually AM that hurt...it would be one thing if you just said you didn't like it, but you basically insulted the fact that we enjoy it. You didn't just share your thoughts about the show. You were a jerk about it.

I was lured into the idea of watching it because of the team being composed mostly of people who've worked on past Cartoon Network hits like Power Puff Girls, and what not, even though I didn't like that either.
Pestered by several groups of people to find out it wasn't worth my time is totally a thing that happened. This is the last time I watch TV.
My reaction:
Yes you saw this video before.

Oof that hurts. Serious ouch right there. Seriously, it feels like a piece of my heart has just been ripped out and thrown into the fire.

He didn't insult anyone at all, he said it was terrible about ten times but he didn't insult anyone. He wasn't a jerk, it's his opinion, it may have been a bit of a different opinion from yours, but like, he thought it was annoying. He could have worded it a bit nicer, but whatever.
Surely I hope the post I quoted isn't serious.

Never told him to like the show, but seriously...and if I ever did, it was jokingly, and I really just wanted him to check it out so he could say he did.

In my mind, reacting in an "oh my god this is so horrible I'm vomiting convulsively and stabbing my eyes out" manner is one way to be a jerk.

Like, can you understand his opinion? He think it's not good, you don't have to go and put it in your sig, NOT RUSS, that's a bit too far. He did take it to drastic measure into the way he worded it, but I'm sure we know he was exaggerating just a bit. Anyways, it's just a show, no need to get hurt about it.
