The thing is I thought up a story so I couldn't bare to waste it. Zelda is on the verge of life and death and her feelings towards Link curses Link and Zelda to reborn again and again. But, I won't explain how this actually happens or how Ganon comes in, not in public that is. icon_smile.gif

I love you're explanation too Schwa. icon_smile.gif

It's just all the more frustrating for me because I can see CLEARLY IN MY HEAD exactly what it should look like, and then when I try to create it like I see it in my head, I freak out and am unable to.

With code, I can see it and create it exactly how I see it, because code is pure mathematics and logic, you know?

I'm with you, I'm never keen on subsceen making myself. But knowing you... You can pull it through! icon_biggrin.gif

Oh that is way cool! icon_smile.gif The fanboy in me loves it when Legend of Zelda and twoo wuv are both involved in the same context, hahaha... *high fives*

Makes me think how much it would ROCK to see Dating Sim in Zelda Classic using scripting... icon_lol.gif The catch is that, while almost anyone here can be Nintendo, only a select few can be Atlus too.

Today, I did a bunch of work on a boss I'm trying to finish up. And it works almost just how I want it to, except that he doesn't actually do any damage. Yet.

And then, to celebrate the launch of the 2.5 database on the main Pure site, I opened up Light of the Heavens DX, gave the top of Palm Island a graphical overhaul, and submitted it. Yay for making things prettier one year after their release!

As it turns out, my healing enemy script was grievously broken. Not anymore. Now there's only one tiny little bug left to fix with it (sometimes picking a non-existant enemy to heal, but that's not a big deal). I also added to the script so the enemy doesn't heal over the max health of the target. I AM going to release this one to the script DB when I get it bug-free, but there's still a few tiny little things I need to work out with it first.

Also, I did a dozen or so screens on a cave.

So, what would happen if it went over? Would it just have even more health, instant-kill the target, or overflow and go back down to 1?

-----

I've still been working on my tileset. I've decided to make every enemy 8-bit, but I'm still only using C-Sets 7 and 8, to try to keep things at a reasonable level color-wise, and to try and hide the fact that they're 8-bit. I was having trouble balancing what colors went in what C-Set (using 3 shades of blue, red, yellow, green, grey, etc.), so with 8-bit, that's not quite as much of an issue.

I copied the Deku Scrub graphics from DoR for the slow versions of the Octoroks. Thing is, as much as I love the graphics, I'm not sure if they'll fit in with the rest of my tiles. Everything is being done as a Super NES version of the GB graphics, using darker colors. You think they'd fit, or would work better in a LttP/MC style tileset?

I'd show pictures, but I don't have a place to put them online, unless I can upload them directly from my computer (doubt it.). I used to have a PhotoBucket account, but I've forgotten the username/password.

I pretty much finished the scripting for these guys (shown below), that I talked about previously in the game thread - the Druid Phantoms.

You will find them in the better maintained areas of the Tower, their purpose to exist is now to "protect" the tower and to maintain it. They are not found in the cave or outside areas.

They are large enemies (slightly taller then Link even), but they move slower. They phase in and out and can shoot energy that can only be dodged (jumping over for example). They are fairly tough, taking 4 hits from the sword or arrows, but have no way to deflect shots or the sword when solid (i.e. no shield like Stalfos). It's best to avoid being hit by these guys though, they do a good bit of damage to Link.

When hit, they phase out and walk away a bit to avoid being hit again, then they either come back at Link or try to shoot magical energy at him. If they are above or below Link, they try to shoot at him while phasing out periodically. They have to be solid to use magic or do damage, however.

Older screenshots, they actually move around and act properly now -

Wow, BK....that's so amazing.
This will be a good quest! An amazing one!

And soon, you people will see....a revival, from me. Of an old legend. (Incredibly vague, lol)

Today, I came to the conclusion that people like playing dungeons that are more then just dungeons. They must have setting and theme or nobody will like theme. I can do settings just fine. But when it comes to themes I suck ass. So I guess I need to work on that piece some more.

If it were me I would approach the problem differently. Instead of coming up with an arbitrary theme, rather think beyond the dungeon itself. What was the original purpose of the place? What is it's story - why is it a deathtrap now? What type of environment does the dungeon exist in (a dark forest, in the desert, etc.)? Then let these decisions guide the look and structure of the dungeon.
