(Wondering if I should put SotW on a indefinite hiatus for a while.)

You don't want Screenshot of the Week to die like Map of the Month once did, do you?
Send in anything you can! It doesn't matter if it's a joke shot or not, I want to keep this contest alive!

Come on guys!

SotW already died once: 2010. September didn't get any at all and it only got 6 SotMs.
I might pick a shot (probably a substanceful jokeshot) to enter.

Call me nuts, but I think SotW should be shelved for good. It only seems to be encouraging mock-ups which feed the dry spell of quest development we've been having and when people submit actual screens from their quests, they lose by a landslide to some mock-up Hyrule Field screen with a river running down the middle and a bridge crossing it or a glorified custom tile showcase. I dunno about other questmakers out there, but this **** just makes me want to give up on ZQuest altogether...
*+Seastorm slaps Moosh.
That is a really heavyhanded solution that would only cause problems with the ZC community. These problems come from the person, not the contest, and this problem only has arisen fairly recently within PZC. With that logic, you are saying that we should ban tilesets like DoR (especially) and PR from here, because they appeared to have caused people's standards to rise more than SotW (which is, unfortunately, a victim of this). I would expect that people would be attempting to flood the Screenshot critique thread with SotW-quality shots as a result and this would have little effect on the community's perception on screendesign. Look deeper and look at the heart of the problem.
A theory is that our expectations have risen because our generation of members joined as teenagers who are, by nature, rebellious and all wanted to be the best questmakers on the site. Screendesign was seen as the best (and most obvious) way to become the best and that's the direction that our community took.

And seriously? "Making a mock up shot" isn't as bad as "I'm going to make a quest" *next minute* "Whoops, sorry! It's cancelled! Better work on more quests!", now is it? Also it's "Screenshot" of the Week not "Quest Screenshot" of the Week.

Actually making mock-ups is just an extreme case of making the first level of a quest and giving up. The creator gives up after the first screen.

I never tried to deny this.
