Don't ask what's up with that random dark patch on the top-left, since I honestly don't know what the point of that was.

What's up with the random dark patch on the left?

Is there a lot more on the second floor, or just a "locked path" leading to a boss and/or Zelda?

There are actually 2nd AND 3rd floors. The 2nd floor is basically a "Locked Path" and the 3rd floor is just about 4-5 screens with Ganon and Zelda.

Oh come on, I just said not to ask about it! XD

Here is a sample of what I have done so far in the overworld in my quest. I know it is a little barren, but it will look more interesting when I am finished.

Here's an 11 screen large preview of the overworld section with level 6 in it. You start from the left edge next to the pond. You need the Winged Boots (Roc's Feather) to even enter this area. Hopefully I have good usage of layering in making the rocks look more appealing to the eye.

Those two maps are some of the best I've seen. Sure beats most classic maps presented in here. Nice work. :D

Adam:  I am not sure what effect the layering is having, but I think it is that the mountains look kind of green, and not bright orangy-brown, the way they usually look.  If this is the case, then I like it very much, and I now want to learn to use layers.

(also, I want to find out how to get to Ghoma's eye, or if I can even do it)

I believe the Gohma's eye is there for you to shoot at, rather than actually getting to it.

Well, using C-Set2 in that palette, the mountains would be a dark green. C-Set3 has brown coloration in place of the green. What I did was take the screen with the mountain tiles, copy it to another screen, make a new set of mountain tiles with the edges transparent and place the combos on the layer screen in C-Set3 as opposed to the screen it goes on which is in C-Set2. When I layer them, they come out smoother. Otherwise, the edges of the grass around the corners would be brown too and look really ugly.

And yes Eddy, that Gohma eye is a shortcut that you can activate with the Silver Arrow for a shortcut to level 6, since you will need to go through a cave to access that portion of the forest. I do feel new motivation for working on my quest now.

Oh, Arrow-trigger for Ghoma's eye, of course!  I like it.

I see what you mean about the edges.  I have had some trouble when designing mountains because they come with their own edges, especially when there's a big clash.  Up to this point I've been sort of working around it.  But I think I will need to look into transparency if I am to get more serious about screen design.

Thanks Adam, keep up the good work!

I've decided to show one of my maps of A Link to the Ice Age. It is unfinished right now, but gives you a rough idea of how it will be set up.

Welcome!  Nice to have you epy.  Isn't Zquest editor a bunch of fun?!  I like your map, it really has a classic feel.
