Today I had to restart my practice dungeon because I corrupted my quest for some unknown reason. Too bad I have autosave and autobackup turned off to save on space. I should seriously reconsider turning those back on.

Today I got one of the seven Sword moves Felix starts with fully functional! It's his Forward Stab; he can perform it while standing still, or be walking forward when he presses the Sword button to scoot forward 8 pixels (half a tile) mid-stab for that short little extra range boost that might make all the difference. Also, holding the Sword button makes for a slightly longer-lasting stab, while tapping the button makes for a shorter-lasting one.

Most people here know that I've scripted this whole thing before once, and this is the "do-over" that fixes all the bugs and makes everything play more smoothly. It's amazing to me how different my approach is this time; half the time I forget I've already done this, because it feels so new. icon_ohmy.gif I also feel safer working with LWeapon hitboxes and that makes me happy.

I might have to cut progress short after today though, because before the end of the week I want to get this laptop turned in and checked for problems (I have the extended warranty that makes it free to get checkups). That said, if I disappear from the forums for a few days, that's why. icon_smile.gif

That's some major bullsh#t, brother... *hugs* I know what that kind of pain feels like. I've lost months of work sometimes because of this; it just makes you want to throw something and rage for a while.

Here's hoping you get back up to speed soon and that these slippery backward slopes dry out into solid ground in your near future. (And yes, turn on Autosave, it hardly uses up any space and it's just handy sometimes when you least expect it!)

@BB89: Yes, DEFINITELY turn on autosave to prepare for the occasional corruption. Also, I recommend backing up your quest to an external drive and/or web service (I use Dropbox which does so automatically) in case your comp goes down.

I wouldn't have such a problem if the files had to be so big. Is there a way to make them smaller.

Make your quest smaller icon_razz.gif

The autosave and backup files for PoS are 12 and 4 megabytes each - not that huge. Even if you have tons of scripts and MIDIs, your quest and its backups shouldn't be truly massive unless you have some way-too-long sound effects (like fanfares, which should be replaced with MIDIs) that really hog space. How big (in megabytes) is your quest? I really don't think it should be too big for a flash drive or online backup service.

It's not the individual size but the batch size and quantity of files it creates that bothers me. Is there a way to make it only create one of each?

Today I got my laptop back! I checked my emails, checked my PMs, then hopped right back into ZQuest. icon_love.gif I almost lost my place where I had left off, too... icon_lol.gif

And Moscow, if you don't mind I think I'll take that Dropbox idea and use it. I've been emailing the zipped .QSTs to myself to back them up that way, 'cause I couldn't find a decent storage site ever since SnapDrive got all ruined, so if Dropbox is as good as you say it is then you just helped me out big-time! icon_smile.gif I appreciate it.

EDIT: I'm laying out the X,Y plot-points for the sword's diagonal Sweep attack. I just placed graphics for Felix and his Swords during each individual would-be frame of animation, as FFCs on a series of screens, so I can sorta see how it would look in advance before I program it... and holy crap, this is going to be AMAZING. Felix's diagonal swing has about a 120-degree range on one side or the other starting from his "blind spot" behind his arm, depending on the direction you'd be turning when you swing it, and it swiftly and smoothly swaths a crescent arc and ends in the forward-position, where the attack will finish and transition into the second half of a Stab attack. It looks so great. :'D I can't WAIT until I get to write this and see it in reality!

In the older video, the diagonal sweep only went like 90 degrees, though in action it looked as though it was only 60 degrees. @_@ It also sort of plodded along, more like Felix was prodding a bunny from out of some bushes as opposed to cleaving its head off with all his might. This? This looks more like the latter. icon_toast.gif

Today I got fed up with choosing a Midi I like. icon_dead.gif I wasted hours on cycling through possible candidates, then realized I don't even need this Midi until like way later, and promptly returned to where I left off in my scripts.

@BB89: Yes, you can go to ZQ's settings and choose the number of backups (made every time you save) and autosaves (made every few minutes).

@Schwa: If you click the link I gave you, then you'll get 2.25 Gb instead of 2, and I'll get another 500MB for inviting you with that link. Kind of a win-win situation, eh?

Meanwhile, I made progress in the extraordinarily frustrating GBshield strafing glitch but it still doesn't work like it used to. *sigh*

Started to break out of my hiatus in quest building. I started on Level 2 of The Lost Kingdom DX, and so far, it looks promising. It would also be good if I can script in the big skultula from OoT, but that's a flashy extra. Soon, when I finish the dungeon, I will have to do the Forest Ghoma, which is an adaptation of the standard Ghoma; just like how the Night Aquamentus is an adaptation of the standard Aquamentus.

here look: IPB Image Edit: I know the screen is not walkable just testing some tiles in zc with no subscreen or screen offset

The screenshot looks interesting, EnnonFenom, but it is way too noisy in my opinion. In some cases noisy surfaces can look more realistic but unfortunately in this case it is very distracting and makes it more difficult to see the shapes and design.

The large character in the bottom middle looks intriguing, though. Do you have any more information about the quest?
