After running through Ectruteak's Gym and getting to Olivine, the party is as follows:
"Buzzsaw," the Level 26 Bayleef!
"Boomtown," the Level 27 Houndoom!
"Batman," the Level 26 Golbat!
"Backspin," the Level 20 Staryu!
and "Slave 2," the Level 4 Ratata!
I didn't realize that I had an all-B naming thing going on until I had my first three; then I decided to keep it going with Backspin.

I. Love. This. Game.

Same here. By far the best Pokemon game yet. Remake or not.

I got my copy yesterday along with Sword of Mana! I'm in Azalea Town right now, already beat Bugsy and my Rival, and heading into Ilex Forest. My Internet won't be back up until either tomorrow or Wednesday, so I can't do any wifi stuff unil then <=(. Either way, glad I could post this at school. My character's name is Jimmy, and my Signature is Koh icon_wink.gif.

I think I'll be able to work tomorrow, but as for going out and getting the games, dunno when that'll be.

So what's the Arceus event? O_oMine's probably gonna be the same as it is in Silver:
  • Typhlosion
  • Pichu
  • Pidgeot
  • Victreebell
  • Gyarados (the Red one)
  • Graveler
And, as like now, I will not evolve Pichu. icon_blah.gif

But since I can't get Pichu until after the Elite Four (unless they made Pikachu available in Johto), then I'll probably do what I did in Silver and focus on catching Lugia and teaching it Icy Wind so I can use it against Lance. And, like in Silver, Typhlosion will be taught Thunderpunch. icon_deformed.gif

TS, do you have Platinum, Diamond, or Pearl? If so, you can get a Pikachu colored Pichu that you can trade to HG/SS that unlocked a Non-evolvable Pichu with interesting stats and abilities, so I hear. Perhaps that's an option for you.

Or if you don't, I have an extra I could trade you.

Anyways, I'm in Azalea town. So far, it's pretty impressive, but one things is bothering me. (SPOILER) What's the point of having Rocket Executives if they're as weak as grunts? When I saw the first Executive in Slowpoke Well, I was getting ready for a huge fight. It took me four or five attacks to kill him, and he barely even scratched me. If all the executives are like this, it'll be way too easy. And why don't they get their own battle music? And why did they name him Executive Proton? Of all the stupid Pokemon names, that takes the cake. In the Japanese version, they were named after rockets. But in the US version, we get them named after subatomic particles. Who came up with that!? Should I be expecting Executive Electron? Executive Quark? Okay, my rant's over.

On a more positive note, just about everything else in the game is perfect. icon_smile.gif

Really? True, they weren't challenging, but I found them interesting and exciting to battle....

I'm totally no lifing this. icon_confused.gif I'm playing through it slow, but playing it almost non-stop, so I already have 5 badges. :B

I'm so sad that it will be over soon. icon_frown.gif Already beat the Radio Tower. Featuring the voice talents of:
"Buzzsaw," the Level 32 Meganium!
"Boomtown," the Level 31 Houndoom!
"Batman," the Level 31 Crobat!
"Backspin," the Level 32 Starmie!
"BrklnRAGE!," the level 32 Heracross!
and "Slave 2," the Level 4 Ratata!

The Rocket Executives are just renamed Grunts from the original Gold and Silver, so they aren't terribly difficult.

Wow, I thought I was going too fast. You two are flying through it! I'm definitely slowing a down a bit.

Wait, don't you battle a pair of Rocket Executives in the original G/S/C? Their counterparts are at least more difficult, right?

You DO indeed battle rocket executives. At both Lake of Rage and the Radio Tower. The remakes better do them justice.

I won't spoil anything because at least one of the battles is different... but if anything they made it much, much easier. icon_unsettled.gif By and large the difficulty curve for the whole game is pretty much the same as it was in the originals, that is to say that the wild Pokemon are incredibly weak, the trainers are only a bit below you, and Gym Leaders/Execs are a little above you.

EDIT: Unless, of course, you grind like crazy, but I like fighting the Gym Leaders/Elite 4 at lower levels; otherwise it's not really satisfying.

I don't have those games. Haven't touched a Pokémon game since the original G/S/C. But we've already been talking about Spiky-Eared Pichu. icon_blah.gif

It wasn't an Executive in the original, but don't worry; they get harder. Unless you uber-train your starter like I always did. icon_deformed.gif

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I encountered an omen of doom before I even started the game. First time I booted with it, SoulSilver was not recognized at all. Now that I have found my first Town Map, I am having troubles there as well.

Nintendo, get your act together. Your hardware is beginning to suck.

(Not the first hitch I've experienced with a Nintendo product this year.)

You think you got it bad. My brother and I bought the game together. "No big deal." I thought. "I'll put use the wifi backup tool to put it on my flashcart, and my brother can play the game cart." Of course it's not that easy. Nintendo's anti-piracy feature makes it crash about every half hour. I'm getting nailed with anti-piracy for a game I legally bought. Go figure.

I haven't had any problems with it. icon_confused.gif Maybe you got a defective copy?
